“You feel so fucking good, baby,” Jordy mumbles against my lips, releasing his hold on my wrists, which I’m happy about because I’m desperate to touch his hard hockey playing body.
A groan of pleasure vibrates in his throat when I run my nails down his smooth back, and he hums when I dig them in a little deeper.
“Fuck, that’s nice.” Panting, he moves his lips to my neck, then my shoulder. “Your fucking pussy was made for my dick.”
“Was screwing my brains out tonight part of your plan to make me feel better?” I ask, smiling, my lips skimming over the spot on his neck that I discovered he likes.
Chest heaving, he slowly leans out of our skin-on-skin embrace and then looks deep into my eyes as if embedding this moment into his soul.
We’re tangled in each other, and I can’t help but think this feels like more than a one-night thing. His thumb brushes against my temple and he drops a gentle kiss to my lips. It’s a sharp contrast to the way he just fucked me into the mattress.
“This was never part of the plan. I can promise you that.” His face is full of concern, so I know he means it. “I like you, Lola. A lot. I never planned for this because the last thing I would ever do is hurt you more than you already have been.” He shakes his head and lets out a sigh. “We’ll keep this thing between us a secret.”
“My job with the Eagles is temporary,” I admit, saying nothing and too much all at the same time.
“What do you mean?” The way he tucks a lock of my hair behind my ear tenderly has me leaning into his touch.
“I’m only there until the end of the season.”
“Does Wade know that?” His voice is laced with a mix of annoyance and confusion.
“He doesn’t. Please don’t say anything. Yet.”
“Are you moving away or something?”
“Or something. Please know that you can trust me. And I have no plans to move.”I might have to if it all goes pear-shaped.“Kali knows everything, and that’s all you need to know. I am trustworthy. I promise.”
His brows hunch together and I get the sense he doesn’t like my answer. “You’re not going to tell me yet, are you?”
“No, but I will. At the end of the season.”
I’ve only told Kali that I am Wade’s sister. She’s the only other person working for the team who knows about my past. Oh, and Marcus.
My best friend, Piper.
And Graham.
Shit.
I hope he doesn’t let my secret slip.
He betrayed me once, which means he may do it again, and the thought makes my heart rate kick up a notch.
I’m praying he does the right thing by me for once and keeps his mouth shut.
“Where did you go, baby?” Jordy taps my temple.
“I’ll tell you when the time is right. I promise. Just not yet. Please, just, please trust me though.”
“You trusted me with your body, Lola, which means you can trust me to keep anything you tell me a secret. I’m not like him.”
I knew he’d read my thoughts.
“Thank you. And nobody will find out about us. I’m the keeper of secrets.” After all, I’m hiding the biggest one of all from Wade. “And this is just one night,” I confirm, checking just in case he changes his mind.
“One epic night of fucking.” He grins down at me, and I’m suddenly aware of how heavy he is on top of me.
“That’s if you don’t squash me to death first.”
