Jackal

“Okay,” Keys said as he joined us for Church, tossing some printouts on the table. “It took me a few minutes but I think that says Hellbound Heathens. The symbol was harder to make out, but some kind of devil is my best guess.”

Hawk studied the stills that were in front of him. “Only these two?”

Keys nodded. “I checked all the cameras from when our folks arrived and left. These guys didn’t show up until about an hour or so after they arrived. They drove up and down every lane for about thirty minutes until they found the bike.” He stood, pointing to one of the pictures as his blond hair fell over his eyes. He usually kept it shorter but he was overdue for a cut. Hawk has kept him busy the last few months. “They were lurking around a few, peeked into the car and checked on the bike before slashing the tires.”

Falcon leaned on his elbows. “So they didn’t follow them in? That doesn’t make any sense.”

Staring across at Keys I said, “Unless they were tipped off.”

Not catching the implication, he said, “Had to have been. No way they were having an afternoon ride and decided to vandalize a Harley in broad daylight.”

Hawk interjected, “Is it possible for someone to hack into your surveillance? Butch knew all the vehicles that belonged to us had trackers.”

Keys brushed the hair from his forehead. “Unless they found a fucking genius, no. My systems are impenetrable. And Butch isn’t intelligent enough to even consider that.”

Red hadn’t left for the bar yet, and he finally spoke up. “What if he added a tracker? He’s right. Butch wasn’t smart enough to break into our shit, but he could easily have placed a tracker on Mama Hen’s car. Hell, even Jackal’s bike.”

Hawk said, “Get her SUV to the garage now. I want all the cars and bikes checked for extra trackers. Each of ours are all placed in the same spot. We’ll be able to tell if there’s an extra.”

Falcon asked, “Lacy’s too?”

Hawk stood up. “Every vehicle on this property is getting checked. Now. Get Squatch out here.”

“I’ll see if Eagle’s dad can come by, too,” Falcon said as he pulled out his phone. “And I’ll give Eagle a heads up.”

Rooster put a finger up to volunteer.

“I can check, too,” I said. For Keys’ sake, I hoped we found extras. He was cool as a cucumber, but at this rate, I wasn’t sure I trusted anyone but Hawk. I hated to feel that way, but it was obvious we couldn’t let our guard down.

We all headed to the garage. By the time we made it out there, my Harley was being pulled off the tow truck.

I went to it first, checking everywhere for any extra device.

Cindy’s SUV was driven over so it could be checked too. Hawkand Squatch got to work on that and everyone else started on their own bikes before moving to the extra bikes, cars, and trucks.

After an hour, Eagle had gotten back and checked his before joining his dad and checking Lacy’s car.

“Mother fucker,” Eagle said from under the car.

We’d found some devices on several bikes, including Hawk’s, and we found one on Cindy’s car. It was planted high above the wheel well.

Eagle scooted from under Lacy’s car and held up another. “No wonder they found her. I’m gonna kill that fucker.”

Hawk said, “He’ll meet his destiny, brother, but he’s mine.”

Eagle’s jaw clenched but he nodded. I walked over and smacked my hand on his shoulder. “We’ll find him. But Hawk’s right.”

“Keys, I want you to get all these reviewed and see if you can tell where they came from,” Hawk said.

Keys took all the tags we’d collected and labeled so he knew which vehicle it came from.

I walked over to Hawk. “We need to figure out who those guys were from today and how to find them.”

“The run is this week. We need the ladies to stay put until we get this sorted. Falcon,” Hawk called.

Falcon came over. “Yeah, Prez?”
