I shrugged. “I’ll take adorable if it makes you smile like that.” I tried to act serious. “But to answer your question, I think, technically, we’re using each other.” I knew this could end in disaster. Theepickind. Where I crawl into my bed back home in Calhoun Beach and cry forever. The kind where I hate myself for doing this to myself. I wasn’t the kind of girl who chased guys or fell in love easily.
Theo was different.
“Martin will handle all your transportation. Don’t come here alone.”
All my muscles stiffened. The edge in his voice was a little bit scary. “Because of your security issues or something else.”
“Security.” He cupped my face. “It’s not safe.”
I looked into his eyes. Dark and distant, even in the dim light of the room. His mind was somewhere else.
“Margaret can’t know about any of this. Not even a hint,” I said.
He nodded slowly. “I understand, but it’s going to be hard to keep from throwing you on that conference table.”
“Restrain yourself. And maybe send someone else to take the meetings.”
“This is my project. No one else will be handling it.”
There was something about that building. Something personal. So many questions he wasn’t ready to answer. “Okay then. Just you. I’ll wear my most hideous dresses and sneakers to meetings.”
“You’ll do nothing of the sort.” He kissed me. “I told you I have control. Doesn’t mean I won’t be fucking you seven different ways in my mind.”
Oh, that sounded nice. “So, Martin will drive me to and from, and you’ll keep your mouth shut around Margaret.”
He sucked at the spot behind my ear, his deep brogue almost a purr in my ear as he whispered. “That’s the deal.”
A completely secret relationship with a man who was nothing short of totally dangerous to my health and sanity. A drug that would destroy me piece by piece. A beautiful drug that I was ready and willing to lose myself to just for the pure enjoyment of the ride.
And maybe a little piece of me believed it was all worth it.
“That’s the deal,” I murmured as I threaded my fingers into his hair and pulled him down for another kiss. Something strong was pulling me into Theo’s life. Something I didn’t quite understand.
I think he felt it too. And despite all his armor and rules, he couldn’t say no to the draw.
He was my temptation, but I was also his.
Realization flashed across his face and his eyes dropped to my lips. Dark, hooded desire coursing through him all over again. He wanted me. Right here, right now.
And fuck it all, I wanted him, too. “Don’t think about it, Theo. Not with me.”
In a flash, his fingers were in my hair as he kissed me roughly. He pushed me backward until I hit the low bookshelf against the wall. His eyes never left mine as he hiked up my skirt and hooked his fingers around my lacy panties.
If there was a way to fuck me with his eyes, he was doing it. I could feel him touching me everywhere despite the fact it was only his fingers tracing light, tantalizing lines down my thigh as he pulled my panties away. He turned me on, making me throb and ache, without anything more than a look.
“Are you sure you want me a second time?” he rasped.
As many times as he’d give me.“I want to feel you every time I move tomorrow.”
He groaned and lifted me onto the bookshelf. I was sore and wet, but desperate for more. I loved this passion. I fed off of it.
“I just need to be inside you. One more time.”
I needed him inside me, too.
I remembered the way he danced and knew that frantic sex on a bookcase was just the beginning. There was so much more to come. We were going to get lost. It was going to be hot and hard. It was going to feel good.
So good we’d forget to think.
