“We have to rid ourselves of Beatrix,” said Jay. “The only way to do that is for me to draw her out.”

“Jay, she’ll kill you,” said Gaspar.

“Maybe. But then, Millicent would be safe. I’ll rely on all of you to tell my story.”

“You won’t have to resort to that,” said RJ. A former FBI agent, RJ had always kept his fingers in the game and kept friends. They all did. You never knew when you might need someone’s assistance.

“RJ? What did you find?” asked Ghost.

“Our boy Fowler didn’t have a lot of friends. When he resigned, they arrested him as he walked out the door. Smart if you ask me. He’s a ‘former’ agent, and what he did will look less like oversight from the bureau.”

“So, he’s arrested. Can we get a statement from him?” asked Trevon.

“Already done,” smirked RJ. “We sent Miller and Angel to the federal building in Indianapolis to speak with him. There are some things that might help Jay at his trial.”

“I don’t know how,” said Jay sadly.

“Jay, your father and mother were feeding you stimulants,” said RJ. He frowned, cocking his head at the man. “Your water, food, everything was spiced with methamphetamine and other drugs that cause aggressive behavior. They wanted you to be angry all the time. That’s not who you are, which is evident by your behavior now.”

“It wasn’t all me?” he asked.

“No. It wasn’t all you. In fact, it probably wasn’t you at all. The jury will still see that you killed those people, but we think we can fight the death penalty.”

He let out a long sigh and nodded at the man.

“The Dyatlov family seems to be in a bit of chaos right now. It seems the old man has divorced your mother.”

“No shit,” said Jay and Millicent at the same time. They both laughed, shaking their heads in unison.

“Right now, she’s been seen driving up I-65 toward Chicago. According to tax records, there is a mansion that belonged to the Dyatlovs. Our best guess is that she’s headed that way to vacate the premises since they are no longer married.”

“If we know where she’s headed, we should go and meet her there,” said Gaspar.

“Way ahead of you,” said RJ. “The team in Indianapolis is on the way. We’ve brought in the feds on this to be sure everything is done right. One problem.”

“Fuck me. What problem?” asked Nine.

“They want both Jay and Millicent there.”

“No. No fucking way,” said Trevon. “Neither of them!” Jay stared at his brother-in-law and felt the emotions rising in his body.

“Thank you, Trevon. But I think I need to go.”

“I’m going with you,” said Millicent.

“No. I said no!” yelled Trevon.

“Trevon, calm down, brother. We’ll have an entire team with them. Nothing will happen to her. Beatrix is crazy and brutal, but so are we. We’ll stop her from doing anything stupid. Besides, the feds will be there as well,” said Gaspar.

“How can we trust them after what happened with Fowler? What if there is someone else involved? What if someone is waiting?” he asked the room.

“You have to trust me, Trevon,” said RJ. “Fowler spilled his guts, hoping for a deal. There is no one else in the bureau involved. And surprise to everyone, when Jay went missing, the guard at the prison who spoke with Kari and the others stepped forward to give his opinion about Jay. Kari thinks he’s helped your case.”

“That’s Jon Bolden. He’s a good man. Kept me alive these last few years,” said Jay.

“We have to do this, Trevon. I have to do this,” said Millicent.

“Then I sure as fuck am going with you.”
