Apparently, not good enough forhim.
And he set out to do something about it.
‘That singular moment in your life when everything can change. And it does.’
– Garrick’s Secret Thoughts.
Chapter 6
Garrick
It was exactly a few days later when I was at the garage working.
My brain had spun over the past few days on how I could approach shit with Tatum and not come off as an overbearing prick.
Sadly, I wasn’t coming up with shit.
And I didn’t want to bring it up and hurt her.
Didn’t want to criticize her without knowing the truth.
“Dibs,” Chance said.
I shook my head and kept right on working.
I heard Chance’s footsteps out of the garage, and then I heard, “Well, hey there, pretty little thing. What can we do for you?”
I had just tightened a bolt on the head of this motor we had pulled apart to replace the head gasket when I heard a soft voice say, “Umm.”
At the sound of that single word, I jerked my head from out of the hood, tagged the red rag in my back pocket, and walked to where Chance was standing.
Motherfucker needed to move.
He was blocking my sight of her.
“Chance, move,” I barked.
Lucky for him, he stepped to the side.
Just in time for my eyes to lay on absolute perfection.
Tatum Leanne Rogers.
The woman who was too young for me, but I didn’t give a good goddamned.
I wanted her.
In every way a man can want a woman.
Unfortunately for me... she was taken.
Taken by a piece of shit who didn’t fucking deserve her.
Neither did I.
But I was a fuck of a lot better man.
Not the best man, nah, that title went to my father... but... for the right woman... I could be that man.
