“It’s not her fault.” He sighed and let his shoulders fall forward. It felt good submitting to her. Even when she was a gentle alpha, she was still his and it was easy to let her take charge. “I knew that all along, but it felt easier not letting my envy for her uneventful childhood blind me when I saw her with you.”

“With me?” she asked rather surprised. “Why is that?”

“You are sisters after all. I liked the idea of you two getting along—of giving you a larger family.”

Scarlett looked at him, pure adoration in her eyes, and Ezra’s heart swelled. “You can be such a sweetheart when you want to be.” When she crossed the room again, she frowned. “I keep forgetting to take your shirt off before tying you up.”

Ezra happily offered his hands so she could unbuckle the leather. With his shirt discarded, Scarlett sat on the foot of hisbed. Once his chest was bare, he put his hands back in his lap, waiting for her next instructions.

Scarlett grinned, her eyes roaming over his chest as she curled her finger for him to come closer. “Come here, my prince.”

On all fours, Ezra crawled towards her and the blush creeping up on her cheeks was his sweet reward. Though she had become more comfortable with her dominant side, she still had so much more to learn.

“Give me your hands.”

Ezra did, happily, and watched attentively as she re-bound his wrists. Scarlett turned his hands palms up as much as the leather let it happen and ran her thumb over his still bleeding cut. Ezra hummed when the pain shot up his arm.

“I did enjoy getting to know her. I just wasn’t sure how you felt about it. Or how much you were willing to share about us or how much you would want me to ask.”

Scarlett brought the blade to Ezra’s lower arm, and his eyes fluttered shut. Pressure, followed by delicious pain, and Ezra groaned.

“Your relationship with her felt so fragile. I didn’t want to be the reason it would shatter right away again.”

“Nothing you did felt wrong.”

Another cut, the pain sweetened with her lips on his cheek. “I want you to tell me if I ever do cross a line. I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable when it comes to me and your sister.”

“I will.”

“Promise?”

“I promise.”

Scarlett hummed softly and let the blade cut just a little deeper. “You’ve looked so tense all day. The last few days, actually.”

“You’re making me feel better,” he purred, the sound turning into a whimper as her thumb rubbed his open wounds.

Then she surprised him, turning to his chest. She dug the blade in slightly just below his throat, dragging a crooked line down his chest so she avoided his runes.

“Princess,” he groaned, letting his head fall back as his chest arched towards the blade.

“You deserve it,” she husked, oh so softly cupping his cheek with her free hand. “You did so well, you deserve all the rewards I can gift you.”

“Fuck,” Ezra groaned, drawing out the sound.

“It still sounds odd at times, telling you I’m rewarding you while inflicting pain on you.”

“The sweetest you could ever treat me.” He tried to control his breathing, but it was hard when Scarlett was dragging her fingertips through his cut and smearing his blood over his chest. “Thank you.”

“The things I’m willing to do and learn for you still blow my mind. It’s a scary thought.”

He chuckled, dropping his hands to her ankles and softly running his thumbs over the delicate skin there—it was all he could reach. “And I’ll be forever grateful as I embrace your darkness.”

Scarlett’s lips caressed their way over his jaw to his ear where she nipped him with her teeth, the tip of the blade pressing into his sternum again. “Get naked and lie on the bed for me.”

He scrambled to his feet and shoved his jeans and briefs down, earning himself a delighted giggle from his mate. A few seconds later he laid down, head propped up on a pillow so he wouldn’t miss a thing.

Scarlett walked around his bed and lit the candles, lowering the overhead light. Then, slowly, teasingly, she dropped the dress that she’d let him pick out for her only hours ago. What he hadn’t seen yet, was the black lace two-piece beneath it.
