“We took pictures. Renley surprised me before we came here.”
Renley held out the pictures, Shannon flicking through them with a smirk. “What a fucking romantic.”
“Cutest date I’ve ever been on actually.”
Renley turned his full attention to her. “It was?”
“Yes!”
“Don’t stroke his ego too much,” Shannon mumbled, leaning down to hug Eveline. “He’s already too full of shit.”
Renley shook his head and followed the other two inside, chatting away like they were old friends themselves. They found a seat and Shannon had Eveline tell them all about their so-called “family vacation” again.
“So did the L-bomb already drop?”
Eveline grinned, attention sliding to Renley, who took the silent hint to answer his best friend. “It did.”
“When’s the wedding? Because my job sucks and I need at least a year’s notice to get time off.”
“Who said you’re even invited?”
Shannon feigned offence, clutching his metaphorical pearls. “You better be joking because if I’m not your best man, you’ll be getting a bill for the months you lived with me rent free.”
“Everything will be sorted out with time,” Eveline soothed with a laugh.
Renley picked up her hand and softly kissed the back of her fingers. “Always so patient with me.”
“You’re worth the wait, Renley Taylor.”

Epilogue
Renley
Four Years Later
Pulling up to Laira’s and Tod’s ranch felt like coming home. Eveline had fallen asleep an hour ago after having worked overtime on one of her biggest projects yet. He still worked for her and Jeronimo, but he knew that all of that was about to change.
Mathew and Drew were already sitting on the porch waiting for them, so Renley softly woke Eveline. “Kitten, we’re here.” She murmured, sleep drunk, her eyes fluttering open. “The boys are already over the moon to see you.”
Eveline smiled sleepily, her door being yanked open. “Hi there, sweet peas.”
“You’re here!” the bouncing boys exclaimed.
While Renley got her chair from the trunk, the boys babbled along, Laira shouting from the porch. “Boys, give her space!”
Naturally, they didn’t, updating both of them on everything that had happened since Thanksgiving. The house was a winter wonderland with a huge tree and lights decorating every available surface. Laira always went overboard, and Renley had loved it ever since his first Christmas with them. Even though he and Eveline were exhausted, they didn’t let it show until after the boys were upstairs and in bed. They all settled on the couch, but not before Renley retrieved Laira’s early Christmas present.
Sitting down next to his wife, he handed over the gift bag. It had been three months since they’d tied the knot, and Renley was still getting used to the idea that this wonderful woman had chosen to spend the rest of her life withhim. “We wanted to give you this without the boys around.”
Hesitating as she pulled out the tissue, his sister-in-law flicked her eyes between them. “If I open this bag and find a dildo…”
