“We have that covered,” a voice spoke from the doorway.
Sergi and Bane looked over.
Bastian came into the kitchen.“It is very generous of you to offer, Mr.Constantine.However, this estate is more than what meets the eye.”
“As I told Bane here, call me Sergi please.And I just thought I would offer our help.I mean if we do not catch all parts of this horrid plan, we all will need to secure our families as best we can.”
“And I sincerely appreciate the offer.I know it isn’t given lightly.So we thank you for it.”Bastian stepped over to the table and sat in the third chair of the eight there.Pulling a laptop forward that had already been sitting on this table, he opened it and turned it on.
Bane stood and got Bastian his coffee, then he came back, sat at the table and watched his partner.
Bastian tapped some keys, then he turned the laptop around to show Sergi the screen.
Reaching for his glasses from his suit pocket, Sergi put them on and peered at the screen.
“What you are looking at is some of the levels of this estate,” Bastian explained.“Most of which are under the floor we are on, unseen by anyone on the outside.”
Sergi studied the 4 way split screens and slowly shook his head.“Amazing.”
“There are technically six floors,” Bastian went on, “Two above ground, and 4 below.This is actually where our families reside for the most part on the two levels below us.Then the very base has storage rooms underground.A massive area.Food, extra vehicles, and a route in and out in case it is needed.There are many rooms down there, full of fuel and supplies including purified water.All of it should last a family of 20 for perhaps ten years or more.”
Sergi slowly nodded his head.“Very well thought out.”
“We knew when going into this venture,” Bane said.“That we would be going up against insane criminal minds and situations that would be catastrophic possibly.Bastian and I pooled our resources and had this freak mansion built for the protection of our families.”
“Very impressive.”Sergi looked up at them.“And I am honored you have shared this incredibly sensitive knowledge with me.”
“Your generous offer is highly appreciated.So, we thank you.”Bastian gave him a nod.
“Yeah, what he said,” Bane joked as he motioned his head to Bastian.
“I contacted the Ghosts last evening,” Sergi announced.“And they are on their way to the two locations today.When they arrive, they will have them under surveillance.Then tonight, when it is quiet, they will make their way into the sites and see what they can find.”
Bane nodded just as James, Nikoli and Viktor came into the room.
James handed Bane the note he found under his door this morning.
Bane took it and looked down to read it.After a minute, he crumbled the note in his hands.“Is she insane?”He growled.
Sergi looked from one to the other and asked, “She?”
“Faith,” James explained.“She left last night under the cover of darkness to go to Minnesota and watch over the Ghosts.She said in case they ran into the zombie soldiers, she would have their backs.And it appears that Dante went with her.”
“Of course, he did.”Bane shook his head.“He wouldn’t let her go alone, now would he?”
Sergi sat back in his chair and smiled slightly.“Can you blame her for going?I mean really?She knows more about these super soldiers than any of us do.”He grabbed his phone and texted his men.“I will tell them Faith might be joining them.After what she did in New York City, they will watch over her.”
Bane snorted.“Don’t you mean she’ll watch over them?”
Sergi shrugged.“Perhaps.Either way, they now know she’s on her way.”
“So now, we wait,” Bane stated.
Pappy joined them and said, “I have a group looking for the missing boats.”He shook his head.“Rainey informed me last night that the boats are small boats that are tug-like and they are identified with the call signs POD and then a number.He found boat 3, 7 9, and 18 missing from the line up.A couple of the men are on the river and they are searching for the boats on the water.I also have men stationed at the ports looking for the boats.They know not to approach them, just report where they are.I have several groups waiting until the boats pull up for the night to board them.I got a call on the first boat.It was spotted twenty miles down the river.”
“Did you warn them that the boat may have these super soldiers on them?”Bane asked.
Pappy nodded.“Oh, yeah.We don’t know for sure they are there but we don’t know for sure they aren’t either.My men need to know the pitfalls and the danger they would be in if they went in.”
