“And now we wait to see what they find on their end,” Bastian said as he sipped his coffee.
Chapter Six
It was early afternoonwhen Faith and Dante reached the warehouse and harbor that belonged to DrakeTrac. They found a high place where they could watch the action below.People working the factory were rushing here and there while trucks came in unloaded and left again.A typical day at work for everyone.Or so it seemed.
When the parking lot cleared out at the end of the day, the warehouse shut down, but the lights were still on.At least on the third floor.
When the sun began to set in the west, Faith watched the boats.
A truck pulled up and four men were unloading canisters.Half were blue and the other half were red.One canister of each color was loaded onto each of the four boats.
“What do you suppose they’re doing?”Dante whispered in her ear.
Faith shook her head.“I’m not sure but I don’t like those canisters.”She turned to look at the third floor and watched as a man stood in the floor to ceiling windows, watching what was going on below him.He didn’t look around to see if anyone else was watching, instead he was looking down at the boats.
Suddenly, Faith froze. She closed her eyes and tipped her head back slightly and just listened for a long moment. Then she slowly opened her eyes and looked at Dante.“We aren’t the only ones here watching and waiting.”
Dante studied her for a moment then asked, “Friend or foe?”
“Friend, I think.I hear Russian.Sergi did say he would send his Ghosts.”She looked down at the warehouse yard.“I guess we’ll have to wait and see.”
“Can you sense the assassins here?”he had to ask.
Faith shook her head.“I’m too far away from everything.”
“Do you want to get closer?”Dante wanted to know.
“Maybe but not right now. When it gets dark, we can move more freely but I don’t want anyone to see us.”
Dante nodded. Then he turned to study the scene below. He was watching the boats. The workers were attaching the larger blue tank to the back of the boat. They seemed to slide it down into a groove beside the motor. The red tank was secured on the other side of the motor.
When the men were done, the warehouse yard got quiet. The sun went down but the lights on the third floor were still on.
Faith and Dante moved closer, moving in the shadows and staying out of the open.
Every once in a while, they would see someone prowling the dock area. These men were well armed and watching for trouble. They were standing in a clump of trees.
