Picking up the remote on his desk, Corbin turned on the TV not far away, and the news was playing clips of the men’s deaths.
The whole time, Will watched, hoping this wasn’t the end of their relationship.
Already, he wanted to marry this man.
For him, he’d come out to his family and co-workers so they could tie the knot.
Corbin reassured him.
“I don’t want to break up with you, Will. In fact, tonight, I wanted to talk about having you move in with me when I wrap this case. I think we should stay in one place. I don’t like bed hopping. I want you to move into my brownstone, since it’s closer to where we both work.”
When he dropped the bomb, Will couldn’t believe what he was hearing.
“Pardon? Did you just say move in?”
Yes, he had.
The bottom line was that Corbin would have married Will after their first night together, but he realized proposing that fast might scare him off.
So, he was biding his time, but that was the ultimate plan of action.
He wanted to put a ring on it.
“I’m being serious. I want you to move in with me. I’m not breaking up with you, Will. I’m in love with you. I want to take the next step.”
Yeah, so proposing was logical.
As he stood there, Will’s heart skipped.
“You are?”
Corbin moved closer, and lifted the man’s chin. They were toe-to-toe, and he was staring into his eyes.
“Yes, Will. I love you. I want to move our relationship along. Will you move in with me as soon as I wrap this case?” he asked, knowing that he needed to show the man he was dead serious about their relationship.
Will didn’t speak.
Damn!
It was clear he was caught off guard, and Corbin didn’t know if he’d just fucked up, or not.
The man looked shellshocked, so he tried to explain it better.
“I’ve never been happier in my whole life,” Corbin admitted. “You’re my other half. Move in with me, and let’s start our life.”
Well, holy shit.
Will couldn’t speak.
For a few seconds, he really believed the man was dumping him, and that scared Will.
Why?
What they had was perfect.
Will had never met a more loving, giving partner in his life. When he was with Corbin, he felt safe, protected, and cherished. The man was attuned to his needs, and he was also incredibly sweet.
He’d found his soulmate.
