It was a few hours later, and I was about to go crazy.

Until a thought popped into my head.

Courage does not always roar. Sometimes, courage is that small voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.”

Chapter 15

Cassie

I ran to my car, and then got in, started it up, and made the three-hour drive to the outskirts of Fayetteville with one thought on my mind.

I’ll kill whoever stands in my way of reaching him.

Seeing the sign for Twisted Pleasure, I whipped my car into the lot and then climbed out.

Twisted Pleasure was an upscale strip club in Fayetteville.

I had asked Alec what the others did when they weren’t out on missions.

He told me that Duke, aka Sire, bounced for his cousin, Levi, when he had a big night.

And according to Laurie, who I had texted earlier, he was there tonight.

I ignored the looks, the stares, and marched to the front door.

The bouncer standing there eyed me up and down and lifted a brow, “Yeah. This ain’t the place for you, little girl.”

I snapped, “I don’t give a shit. I need to see Duke. And I need to see him now. Tell him Cassie is here.”

He shook his head.

“Listen, Sasquatch. You will tell Duke that I am here, or I will shove my foot so hard up your ass you’ll be seeing stars.”

The man growled, then he slowly started to advance on me.

I held my ground.

Was I ever going to cower? Fuck no.

I didn’t when my ex thought he could lay his hand on me, because I told him no the first and only time he tried to fuck me, and I sure as hell am not doing it now, “If you don’t tell Dalton Graham that I am here, and he finds out that you didn’t tell him like I told you to do, I wouldn’t want to be you.”

Something in my tone must have resonated inside of him, because he stopped, tilted his head, and said, “That right?”

I growled, “You know what, fuck this.”

Then I pulled out my phone and called Laurie

She answered on the second ring, that caring tone of hers was coming through loud and clear, “Cassie girl, what’s shaking?”

I smiled at her, even though I was furious as hell, “I need your help. But this big fucking sasquatch in front of me at Twisted Pleasure won’t go tell Duke that I’m here. And I need Duke, Laurie. I really need him.”

The caring tone vanished, and in its place was the tone of a wife to a SEAL, “Hand whoever it is the phone.”

I snickered, “Yes, ma’am.”

Then I handed the big asshole the phone.
