I went inside and took the elevator up. I stepped off the elevator and walked to the door at the end of the hall. I stared at it briefly, then decided to suck it up and banged on the door.
I waited a minute and heard some noises inside, then heard a male voice and some shuffling. Finally, the door swung open.
“Amy, what are you doing here?” Lucy asked as she tied a belt around the waist of the fluffy robe she used to wear around the apartment.
“My God, are you animals? It’s lunchtime,” I said as I pushed past her with the pizza.
Lucy closed the door and followed quickly behind me to the kitchen.
“Seriously, didn’t we say we’d meet later tonight?” she asked as her eyes darted to the bedroom door.
“I’m not here for you, I need to speak to Jason.”
Lucy looked confused.
“Just go tell him to put some fucking pants on and come out here. Pretty please.”
She rolled her eyes and pushed herself quickly into the room, only cracking the door as she shimmied her curvy figure through. How cute, she was protecting his virtue.
I heard some whispering between them, but eventually, the door opened, and they both came out, fully clothed.
“Hey, Amy. What’s up?” Jason asked. He was trying to be casual and calm, but from the way he clenched his jaw, I could tell he was not happy with the interruption.
“Well, first, sorry I interrupted today’s episode of Wild Kingdom,” I said as I rolled my eyes. “Second, I’m sorry I was rude and kept calling you BDE. You make her happy and I’ve accepted this, so I will be better. Well, I’ll try to be better. Honestly, BDE isn’t that bad–”
He cut me off before I could continue. “Great, I accept. It’s fine. This could have been done later.” His dark eyes pierced through me.
“But I brought a peace offering,” I said as I motioned to the delicious pizza I so graciously went and got for him.
Lucy was grinning and put her hand on his arm, gently stroking it, willing him to accept my gift.
He let out a huge sigh. “Thanks, Amy. It smells great.”
“I’m sure you’re hungry now, anyway. You’re welcome for my perfect timing,” I joked, but Lucy was shaking her head at me to stop.
He let out a small grunt but went to grab plates and Lucy made some drinks. We sat at the table, and all grabbed a slice. It was so good.
When he went for his second slice and wasn’t as tense, I felt good about asking for my favor.
“So, since we’re all friends again, I need a favor.”
Lucy asked between bites, “Sure, what’s up?”
“Well, I decided to use the new spare room for my art room.”
Lucy nodded. “That’s a fantastic idea,” she mumbled through chews.
“Yeah, so I started moving some stuff. But I realized I can’t move the desk by myself.”
Jason grinned and rolled his eyes. “So, you need my help? You brought me pizza so I’d move your desk, not because you’re sorry.”
Lucy put her hand over his wrist. “Can’t it be both, babe?” She then fluttered her eyes at him.
Jason let out a defeated sigh. “Okay, fine. But I expect less attitude.”
“I’ll do my best.”
Lucy gave me a wide-eyed look.
