Chapter 1

(Ritchie)

______

Air whooshes out of my lungs and my entire body heats as I hurriedly turn away from the scene in front of me.

“Se-lena, so-someon-e’s, here to see you,” I stammer, looking anywhere but at them or at Joseph’s cock which I pray has been removed from view.

I didn’t mean to walk in on my friend getting a blowjob. This has to be the most embarrassing thing that’s ever happened to me. And I almost never get embarrassed.

“Who?” Selena asks, her voice sounds nothing like it usually does. I glance at her and she’s beet red.

“You couldn’t have chosen any other time to walk in?” Joseph questions a little angrily.

“It’s not like I wanted to see your dick,” I retort, still feeling the heat rush on my face.

“I’m sorry, Selena,” I say to the woman, still not looking at the couple.

“It’s alright,” she replies, her voice still unnaturally high.

“Who’s here to see me?” she questions again.

“Right,” I say clenching my fists as emotions rush into my chest.

Anger, surprise, embarrassment. Christ, I’m feeling so many things at once. But I focus on the anger and surprise, shock in fact because I just saw someone I didn’t in a million years think I was going to see again. And we’re both not too ecstatic about it.

“Alexandra Hale.”

I see recognition light up in Selena’s features. And then she smiles.

“She’s my friend. Please, tell her to come in,” she says to me.

“Like in here?” I ask incredulously.

“Are you serious?” Joseph blurts, angrier now than before.

It was a joke and I start chuckling.

“So are you going to tell her?” Selena asks, bringing me back to the crux of the matter.

I inwardly sigh. I was hoping Selena didn’t actually know Alex and this was all some sort of mistake. I’m about to turn around to do as she asked when Joseph stops me.

“Ritchie, not a word about this. To anyone,” he says.

“Trust me, this has been removed from my memory,” I say with a smirk, gesturing at both of them.

I walk out of the hospital room to find the bane of my existence. To think we would meet again, and that Selena knows her. It’s a small fucking world.

The last time I saw Alexandra, she was 18 years old.

Then and now, she’s barely changed. There’s still a fire in her amber eyes. A fire I could never understand. One that I’m sure has been utterly doused from mine. She’s also still 5’2 and she still hates my guts.

“Well?” she asks as I near her.

A dark eyebrow is lifted and there’s suspicion in her eyes. She doesn’t trust me. Never has, never will.

“Selena’s waiting for you in the hospital room. Surprisingly, she seems to know you.”
