There was a space for each of us to sign at the bottom of the page. I gulped audibly as my eyes scanned the document once more.

“Posey,” Soren’s voice pulled me back. “Do you have any questions?”

I thought about it, looking over the document for a third time.

“I’m surprised that you have rules,” I murmured.

“Why does that surprise you?” he asked honestly.

“I’m not sure. I think I just assumed that I would be the only one with rules. Granted, I like that they are there,” I added shyly. I felt a little out of my depth here, but there was no going back. I wanted this. More than I could have known.

“Are you currently on any form of birth control?” he asked seriously.

“Yes, I have an IUD. I will also schedule a testing this week. If that pleases you.” The last sentence I added on, lowering my eyes. The almost growling noise he uttered in response had me wanting to crawl over the table myself, whether he wanted me to or not. The man was delicious. Far more delicious than I had previously thought — and that was saying something.

“Good girl,” he replied with a smirk.

“So, what now?” I asked, awkwardly wringing my hands in my lap.

“Now, if we both agree and there are no further questions, we both sign. Though, I do have a question, Posey.”

“What’s that?” My voice trembled only slightly.

“Are you nervous?” He pinned me with a look that had me shifting in my seat, regardless of my attempt to be still.

“Perhaps,” I whispered.

“Tell me,” he commanded, and my breath caught in my throat.

“Areyousure you want to enter into this with me?” I admitted nervously.

“What makes you think I wouldn’t?”

“What if we have no chemistry?” I argued.

His loud, almost guttural laugh surprised me.

“No chemistry? That’s your concern?” he laughed. I simply nodded my head.

“Noted, little girl.” The way his voice shifted from the normal, serious tone I was used to, to an almost predatory siren’s call had me entranced. I watched as he stood from his chair, making his way around the table to me. “You’re worried that what? I’m not attracted to you? That we have no… spark?”

I nodded, shrinking back into my chair just a bit as he stalked to me. I wasn’t afraid, I was aroused. I was nervous. I was —

His fingers touched just under my chin, raising my head to look at him.

“Look at me, little one.”

I obeyed instantly, as though my body wouldn’t let menotobey. It was natural. It was easy.

“Stand.”

One word. One command. I was hooked. I stood slowly, keeping my eyes on his, feeling my pride swell at his satisfied smirk.
