As though I were the only thing in this world that mattered. I vowed in that moment to do whatever I had to do to make him feel that way for all of my days.
After what felt like an hour, though it was likely only a manner of minutes, Levi moved off of me, disentangling our limbs and leaving me feeling empty. I had expected him to get a cloth for me to clean up with. I did not expect him to pick me up into his arms, almost like a child, and carry me towards the door.
“There is a bathroom in here, but I don’t want you there right now. I want to take you to our bathtub and wash you,” he whispered against my temple as he carried me up the stairs.
The man literally carried me up not one but two flights of stairs to our bedroom like I was nothing more than a basket of laundry. I felt a thousand things in each second that passed.
When we entered the bathroom, he set me on the counter, much like he had after the first time we had made love here in our home. He drew a hot bath, filling it with the salts I loved. The scent wafted towards me as the steam rose from the quickly filling porcelain tub.
He helped me into the water once it was filled, and he sat himself down behind me. His arms encircled me, holding me close in the warm water with only our breaths and the lapping of the water filling the silence.
He didn’t pressure me to speak, to react, or to do anything at all other than relax in the water.
My thoughts buzzed in my head, leaving me with so many emotions and so many questions. His hands lightly trailed up and down my arms until I grasped his hand in one of my own, needing to feel more connected.
It was still several minutes later before either of us spoke.
“How are you?” He spoke so softly, I almost didn’t hear him, even though he was right behind me.
“I don’t know,” I answered honestly.
“That’s okay. Can you tell me if what you’re feeling is good or bad?” His care was palpable. He let me be exactly where I was without pressure or expectation. That alone made me feel even more safe than he had already made me feel.
“It’s good,” I reassured, squeezing his hand in mine. I could physically feel him relax.
“Okay, then why don’t you start with whatever you’re thinking right now. Anything at all.” I thought about it for another moment.
“I’m a little surprised, I suppose,” I blurted out.
“Surprised? At what?”
“I had expected it to be… I don’t know… more painful?” I answered, though I wasn’t sure if I was articulating anything correctly right now. My body, mind, and soul all felt a little like mush still.
“We talked about that. Kink does not mean pain. It can, but it definitely doesn’t have to,” he reminded me. I could feel his smile press against the top of my head as he spoke.
“Yes, but I guess I just… I guess I expected there to be spanking or hair pulling or hitting. Something like that,” I admitted sheepishly, annoyed as I felt my blush spread over my cheeks.
“Well, while I’m more than happy to oblige you in that, it wasn’t the purpose of our scene today. Though, it’s not hitting. Its impact play,” he corrected me.
“Right. Impact play.”
“Kink isn’t about one thing or another all the time. It’s about the agreement. It’s about making sure that we follow whatever we have negotiated and that the outcome we both wanted happened. For us, today, it was about the power exchange. It was about showing you, intentionally, what that exchange can be like. I didn’t want to jump into all the bells and whistles, because, honestly, they aren’t needed. They are fun, yes. But it’s about giving your submission, and in return, I give safety, release, and fulfillment through my Dominance.”
I thought about his words, ruminating over them as we lay there in the bath silently. Slowly, in the silence, he began to wash me. It was reverent, loving, and full of so much care I thought I might burst with the emotion of it.
“Levi?” I spoke up once he had finished rinsing my hair and was held snug against his chest once more.
“Mm?” he murmured.
“I’m honored you let me be your submissive tonight.” I felt the shuddering, stuttering intake of his next breath as my words hit him.
“The honor was mine, lovely one,” he whispered fervently against my temple.
