When they stopped, Artemy was glaring at Briar.
She just glared back at him.“Well old man, it looks like you’ll join your daughter and go back to face the Russian Council together.”
Artemy growled.“They will not send me back to prison for a second time, bitch.”
Briar nodded.“Oh, but they will. You killed your own brother, then went on to kill his wife and children. You have no morals, but then I guess we knew that much about you already.Do you even know how many kids are out there with your DNA?”She shook her head.“But you lost too much time behind bars, didn’t you?At least you were alive and living life while your brother and his family rotted in the ground.”
“My brother was a loser!”Artemy shouted at her.
Briar leaned forward to say, “No, he was a man, arealman, one who loved one woman and wanted to give her the world. He took care of his kids too, I’ll bet.He wasn’t a skank that would go from one bed to another, like you.I meaneww.”She pinched her nose as if he stank.“STDS, fucker.Ever heard of that?People may talk about men like you but they never give them respect and what man can really say he’s a man without respect?”
John grabbed him by the arm then and pushed him toward the sidewalk to take him toward the hotel.
Artemy was screaming again but no one was listening.
When John brought Artemy back to the hotel, Felix himself showed him to a cell.
When his daughters saw he was chained, they looked almost broken.
The plan had failed but Ilaria kept looking behind him before she asked, “Where is Mario?”
Artemy shook his head.“Some bitch slit his throat. He’s dead.”
Ilaria paled.“No, how can that be?He was supposed to lead us to victory.”
“Well, he’s dead now, isn’t he?”Artemy snarled in his rage.“She took not only him down but Ray as well. She cut Ray’s artery open and then she pushed a knife into his throat. She killed them both with a single move.”
“Who is she?”Kaylin growled.“I’ll rip her throat out before we go back.”
“She’s nothing but a street slut,” Artemy grumbled.“I lost my son to a street woman. Then her friend tracked me down and wouldn’t let me go.I tried to tell them who I was and they didn’t even care.”
“No one in this entire country knows who we are and what we are fighting for,” Ilaria griped.“They don’t care about our fight.”
Artemy sat down on his cot and folded his hands together.“They will care when our compatriots arrive and make them care.”
“Did our men manage to get away?”Kaylin wanted to know.
“I don’t know, those street thugs were ruthless,” Artemy admitted.“Many of them fell under whatever tools the street bums could find to fight with.”
“So our men were more or less defeated by a gang of street people?”Ilaria asked in surprise.“Tell me something old man, did this bitch wear a hat over her hair?”
“Da, as a matter of fact she did have a hat on before Ray hit her and knocked it off.She is Magda Grigori’s daughter from the homeland.Do you know her?”
“Da, we do,” Ilaria admitted.“She led the group that found us.”
“That little bitch.”Artemy growled under his breath.“I’ll kill her myself, she has taken too much away from us already.I will not let her live to see the day we are defeated. We will rise again.”
Ilaria just glared at her father.
Kaylin did as well.
The cell area was rife with tension now.
