“Are members of this group in this country as well?”Sergi thought to ask.“It seems the girls told us that members of their group are here too.”
“Si, my security team tells me that there are members here in the States as well. They’re busy tracking them down.Maybe only a handful, but we are already trying to locate them.”
Chapter Two
Sergi agreed, “Da,that is good.I’ll get our people tracking them as well.I appreciate the call and the warning. If I come up with news, I’ll call you back with any updates we find,” Sergi assured him.
“Bene, that is good.We should keep each other informed of what’s going on.This situation affects both of us.”Leon sighed.“Working toward a common goal will only strengthen the ties for both organizations to survive.”
“Da, we are staraya shkola...old school, aren’t we?”Sergi sat back in his chair.“As leaders, we want what’s best for the long term.We see a much bigger picture than the leaders of the newest revolutionaries do.They seek higher powers to bolster their own resumes and they know people will die for their causes, but all they are looking for is their fifteen minutes in the spotlight. They don’t see what they are fighting for might not turn out the same way they think it will. They do not see the harm they are creating and the overall destruction they will bring.”
“Si, that is true.We set the rules for everyone, not just the certain few. Those rules are there for a reason and everyone has to follow them or there will be chaos.”Leon said sadly.“Unfortunately, some people don’t want to be constricted by the rules everyone else has to follow. That’s when vero caos...true chaos begins.”
Sergi agreed, “Nastoyashchiy khaos. And it will not end until we bring the revolutionaries back under control. But that is what we do, isn’t it?We toe to line and drag others back into line. That’s why we have the power we do.”
“Si, but we also have to be very careful to watch our own backs, do we not? Some people greet you with a smile and a handshake while the other hand holds a knife they are willing to sink into your back.”
“I know that feeling all too well,” Sergi agreed.“I had almost forgotten Artemy Barasco. He’s been in prison for over twenty five years already. He was a dangerous man back in his days and now of course, he’s had twenty five years to grow more rage in his heart. He could do anything right now.”Sergi sighed hard.“But now that we know he is free we can monitor things a little differently. If he is coming here, it will take him some time to get here.”
“Just remember, they already have a plan in motion,” Leon urged.“Getting him out was just one part of the plan.If they got him on a plane immediately, he could be here in no time. You still have to figure the when and the where.”
“Da I know.”Sergi growled, “But at least we have a starting point. My security team may be able to track his progress. So when he shows up here, we can be prepared for him to strike.”
“Udachi, moy drug,” Leon pronounced in Russian.Good luck, my friend.“If I hear anymore I’ll be sure to call you.”
“Anche a te, amico mio,” Sergi replied in Italian, returning the honor to Leon.To you as well, my friend.“And if I hear anything, I’ll return the call as well.”When he ended the call, he looked over at Nikoli and asked, “Well that was unexpected, was it not?I hope it is the beginning of an alliance.I do know that the VIM has worked with him and they have helped us immensely. We worked well together in Boston. It isKhoroshoto have this.”
Nikoli nodded.“I agree. And I do believe he just wanted to warn you.”
Sergi nodded.“If the roles had been reversed I would have made the call to him myself.”
“Da, but that’s just the kind of man you are,” Nikoli pointed out.
Sergi nodded.“Well, I’m finding that’s the kind of man Vincinti is too.Think of it.Us allies? We would...how do they say it?Kick ass.”
“Unstoppable,” Nikoli agreed.
