“No, Dominic. She’s not.”

I think I’m getting a migraine.

Daisy eyes the two of us suspiciously. Not that I’m surprised. The nosy little fucker sees and hearseverything. He also can’t keep anything to himself to save his life. Which means the whole school is going to hear about this by the end of the day.

“If the two of you don’t go away and get dressed for practice I’m going to?—”

“Ooooo, we made Banner angry. ‘You won’t like him when he’s angry,’” Daisy mocks. Dominic fakes like he’s going to get up, and Daisy holds his hands out in front of him in surrender. “Okay, okay, okay. I’m going now.”

He retreats to the other side of the locker room while Patty chuckles next to me before going about whatever the hell he was doing before he decided to be Nosy fucking Nellie.

“Well, good thing we weren’t trying to keep this a secret or anything.” Dom sighs next to me.

“Yeah. Good thing,” I agree, not missing the fact that Dom never had a chance to answer my question. Nor did it seem like he wanted to. But before I get the chance to pressure him about it, my phone dings in the side of my duffle bag.

Pulling it out, I find a message from my brother.

Jax

You and Dominic are fucking Liliana Campos?!

There’s thatfuckingword again.

CHAPTER 28

PREPARE TO BE WOOED

DOMINIC

My phone only rings twice through the speakers of my truck before she picks up. “Miss me already?”

I scoff. “It’s been two days. What do you think?” Of course I miss her. I miss her the second I’m not around her. Which is starting to become a serious problem, and yet… I can’t get myself to stop. Being with her, being withthem… It’s starting to feel like I’m addicted. Like I’m addicted to the most dangerous drug. Because, I know, that in the end it’ll hurt me. Every hit just buries me deeper and deeper. But I can’t stop. I want more.

I don’t know how to stop.

Her laughter floats through the speaker. “I think you can’t get enough of me.”If only she knew how much.“But before we get to whatever reason you called me about, you or Emerson care to explain why everyone that’scome in here the last two days is asking me how the two ofyouare?”

Ah shit. Knowing there’s no use in denying, I come clean about our little locker room incident. “Emerson and I were talking about you in the locker room before practice on Wednesday. Daisy heard. He’s a fucking loud mouth and has no idea how to keep a secret.”

“I see…” Her tone is hard to read. I can’t tell if she’s pissed or indifferent.

“I’m sorry, Honey. I promise we weren’t going around telling everyone about our business. It was an accident. If you want we can?—”

“Dominic.”

“Yeah?”

“It’s totally fine. I promise.” I can hear the smile in her voice, and I immediately loosen my grip on the steering wheel. I’d ask her if she was sure, but Lil isn’t one to sugarcoat whether or not she’s okay with something.

“How about I make it up to you tonight? Dinner?”

“Em coming too?”

“Nah, he has a paper to write for his media ethics class. Told us to go have ourselves a Friday night.” I was momentarily bummed he didn’t want to come, but then I remembered I haven’t had a minute alone with Lil since before Turks and Caicos. And as much fun as I’m having with this little threesome, I miss that. Just as I crave time alone with Emerson, I want that with her, too.

I don’t know how to stop.
