That perks him back up. “We’re sharing a room?”

“Well, yeah. I mean, he was supposed to share it with Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb, but since they’re sick, the other bed’s all yours.”

Dom raises his brows playfully. “Oh, we won’t need the other bed for what I have in?—”

Jax clamps his hand over Dom’s mouth. “Yeah. Don’t need to hear it. Just remember your room is between ours and Mom and Dad’s. So for the love of god, keep it down.” Jax pins me with a death glare, and I mimic a zipping motion over my lips. “Thank you,” he sighs dramatically.

The six of us put all of our luggage in the back of Jax and Theo’s rental and pile in. It’s a Suburban, but none of us are exactly small people, even Mom stands at five-foot-nine, so it’s a tight squeeze. However, the drive from the small airport to the resort is only about fifteen minutes, and with Jax driving like he’s on the set ofFast and Furious, we make it there in about ten. And like something out of my favorite rom-coms—I know, don’t judge me—the moment we step out of the van, we’regreeted by a member of the resort staff with a tray of what look like very tasty frozen drinks.

“Piña Colada, anyone?” he asks.

Dom claps him on the shoulder. “What’s your name, my man?”

“Aadan, sir.”

“Aadan.” Dom grabs a piña colada off the tray and takes a giant sip. “You and I are going to be good friends. I can tell already.” The rest of us reach for our drinks as another member of the staff unloads the trunk and places our bags onto a luggage cart, and another hands Jax a valet slip. But before my mom can grab the last one, Dom snatches it up and hands it to her. “Here you go, Mrs. B.” Then he gives Theo the side-eye.

Theo doesn’t even notice. Nor does he care.

It’s hilarious.

“Alright.” Jax claps his hands together. “Theo is going to take you guys to your room. I have some things I need to go do in the meantime.”

“Are the grooms busting your balls today?” my dad asks.

Jax huffs an exhausted laugh. “Try the groom’s sister.”

A chuckle rumbles in Dad’s chest. “That one’s a real spit-fire, isn’t she?”

“You have no idea,” Jax and I answer in unison.

“You know Rocky’s sister, too?” Dom asks while still slurping down his drink.

“What? Mhm. Sure do,” I reply anxiously. Because amongst all of the chaos and excitement to get here, coupled with the fact that Dom came so last-minute, mybrain didn’t once seem to comprehend the fact that both Lil and Dom were going to be here.

We don’t talk about the other partners.

The most important rule rings through my head.

Yeah well that’s pretty fucking hard when you’re trapped on a tropical island with them both and one is your roommate for the weekend and the other is the maid-of-honor.

Suddenly, the sweat beading down my back has nothing to do with the sun and everything to do with the fact that I don’t know how the hell I’m supposed to handle this one.

CHAPTER 6

WAIT, I KNOW HER

DOMINIC

“Ithink I’m going to die of a heat stroke,” I pant out in my seat next to Emerson.

He huffs in exasperation. “You are not going to die from a heat stroke. You’re wearing a linen suit for Christ’s sake. And it’s only like eighty degrees out. And do you feel that breeze?” He holds his hands out in front of him and looks around. “It’s fucking gorgeous outside.”

I look at him deadpan. “Have you seen the size of me?” He raises his brow and looks down briefly. “Shut up. Not what I meant and you know it. This”—I wave my hand over my body—“is a lot of mass to cool down. So sue me for being a little warm.”

Emerson patronizingly pats the top of my thigh, and I narrow my eyes at him. “This wedding is going to last all of fifteen minutes, and then we can go get you adrink. Plus, the sun is going to start going down in an hour.”

I let out a dramatic sigh. “Fiiiiiine.”
