When we couldn’t make out anything but the top of the truck, I dropped back down with a sigh. “What were the old neighbors like?”

“Hell,” Hawk answered with a huff of laughter. “Middle-aged. No kids. Loved to complain about everything and anything, even though they were the ones with the little dog that yapped constantly.”

I screwed up my nose. “Oh, man, I know the kind.”

“Darcy.” I glanced over my shoulder to where Nate was standing in the entrance to the kitchen. “I just found out who’s moving in. You’ll never fucking guess who. Come on.” He disappeared again, and I hurried to wipe the soapy water from my hands with a dishcloth, tossing it onto the counter before jogging out after Nate. Hawk, Missy, and the other club members who were still in the house after lunch followed along with us, everyone looking eager to see who these new people intheir cul-de-sac were going to be.

“Wait!” I whispered, out of breath, and finally catching up to Nate. I tugged on his hand. “Is it someone I know?”

“Yeah,” he said with a smirk, intertwining his fingers with mine.

We stopped on the street, and I screwed up my nose. “Is it someone we both know?”

“Yup.”

“Nate…” I groaned, rolling my eyes. “Just tell me. You know I hate surprises. I need to be…” My words fell off as I watched the doors of the moving truck swing open.

They weremy things.

Things I’d had shipped up here and put in storage from my apartment in New York.

“What is… I don’t…” I stuttered, my heart pounding faster and faster. “Nate… are we—”

“Hawk and Missy’s new neighbors?” he finished, hooking his arm around my shoulders and pulling me into his chest. He pressed a kiss to the top of my head. “It’s not the home you wanted, but—”

“It’s better,” I choked out, and a cheer went up around us.

Everyone from the club was clapping and hooting.

Tears burned in the back of my eyes.

No, it wasn’tmy family home. It was going to be so much more than that. It was going to be a home that Nate and I shared. It was going to beourfamily home.

And because of that, I knew it was the perfect moment to do something I’d been putting off for days. With my heart pounding in my chest, nerves and excitement taking over, I took a step back, letting Nate’s hand slip from mine.

His smile dropped into a worried frown. “Darcy? Are you okay?”

A hush fell over everyone, elation giving way to concern.

I nodded, licking my lips as I fought to find the right words. “I’m okay,” I said, tears dripping down my cheeks. “This is perfect, actually, ’cause I wasn’t sure where we were going to fit a crib in your bedroom at the clubhou—” I was lifted off my feet, the anxious tears turning to laughter as Nate held me tightly in his arms.

I wrapped my legs around him and buried my face in the crook of his shoulder, giggling as he cursed every bad word into my ear.

Good bad words.

Happy bad words.

When he finally returned me to my feet, he took my face in his hands and pressed his forehead to mine. “You’re pregnant?”

“I am,” I whispered with a smile.

He brushed at my tears with his thumbs. “How far along?”

“Eight weeks.”

“Holy fucking shit,” he muttered, his eyes dropping to my stomach that still looked exactly the same as always. But he still dropped his hand and placed it there, the two of us having this quiet moment in the middle of the street.

“Excuse me,” Missy called from the sidewalk, waving her hand like a crazy woman. “Um… we want to celebrate too!”
