I nodded frantically. His eyes lit up with understanding. “Kit.”

I repeated his name, and I couldn’t help the smile that spread on my lips. I quickly cut that off. No. I couldn’t be blinded by his effect on me.

Fur grazed my arm and the gray wolf rubbed against my side. His head dragged across my shoulder and almost bowled me over. He was damn strong.

My heart kicked into overdrive, and it took every fiber of my being not to rub against him. Instead, I pushed my palm against his side and shoved.

Rowan growled and showed his teeth. I snatched my hand back.

Okay, damn.

I returned my attention to my other mate who stared at me attentively. He was already on his feet, so I matched him and pushed up. Lifting a free hand, I scribbled in the air like I was writing.

He rubbed the flat of his palm against his temple and nodded.

“Watch her, Rowan.”

I frowned at the order as he exited the living space. I frowned down at Rowan as he pushed against my legs, looking up at me without blinking. Honestly, his attention was intimidating.

I scooted a foot to the side and he followed me. Sighing, I shook my head and angled my shoulders toward the fire. The sun was out, but it was still freezing in here, so much so my breath formed a cloud.

With the room lit up, it was easy to see the limited decor of the space, although there was a variety of bunched up blankets. In particular, the space in the corner where there were masses of furs in a pile.

Other than that, the carpet was clean and there was only a couch pushed against the wall to the left as you entered the living room.

Muffled steps thudded back into the room and Kit was back. He held out a notepad. I carefully reached for it and plucked the pen from the rings at the top as I moved to the couch. The cushion dipped under my weight and Kit sat next to me, making me tilt toward him. I cleared my throat and straightened.

“Where am I?”

I had an idea based on his accent and the weather.

“My house?”

I glared.

“Ah, too specific for you, then. You’re in Scotland.”

As I’d thought. I bit my lower lip. Time to plan. I needed to get out of here and contact Nola to get her to send me money. She would understand the urgency. If I called Hector, he’d try to convince me to return, and I couldn’t handle rejecting him at the moment. Eventually I would call him to assure him of my safety, but Scotland suited my current needs. It was perfect to lose myself in. Werewolves were all over the world, but since wolves were outlawed here, I doubted many werewolves stuck around.

“Take me to your closest town,”I wrote out, and after a pause added,“Please.”

Kit looked at the note and then at me. My breathing elevated a few increments. He was much closer than he’d been earlier. It was actually getting hot in here. The earlier chill was displaced by the heat flushing my body.

“Why?” Kit asked, his voice low and calm.

Rowan pressed into my leg harder before nudging his nose at my pussy. I smacked his muzzle and he huffed with a groan.

This would not be easy. Of course not. I should have thought it through. They were my mates. They scented my Omega-ness... they wouldn’t let me go easily.

“Please. I can’t stay here.”

“Why?”

I puffed my cheeks out. He was infuriatingly calm and the way he asked got under my skin.

“Because I’m an Omega.”

“And?”
