After deciding on sex in the shower post-soaking in the tub, they finally found themselves hungry enough to warrant food over fucking.
Sitting at the table with her plate, her phone vibrates beside her. When she turns it over, she sees a text from Daisy:
Daisy
Hey lady
How you doing?
Petra
I’m doing okay.
Thanks so much for your help the other day. I know I was a bit shaken up and out of sorts after the work stuff.
Anytime! That’s what westies are for!
Westies?? Like the dog?
No - Witch x Bestie… Westies
*groan*
Shut up! It’s good, and you know it!
It’s something….
Anyways, you wanna hang out today? Maybe do some retail therapy?
Sure. Want me to pick you up?
That would be lovely :)
Let me know when you’re on your way!
Will do!
When she looks up from her phone, she catches Lachlan watching her, a small, content smile on his disgustingly handsome face and a comforting look in his eyes. She doesn’t regret anything they did last night and this morning and still worries about hurting him, but she also realizes that the stupid boundaries she tried to put in place didn’t help. She appreciates everything he’s done for her. Her developing feelings for him will complicate things, even more so now that they’ve slept together. But she tells herself she can manage it. She can stay friends. Friends with benefits.
“That was Daisy. She wants to go shopping, so I’m going to head out for the afternoon,” she says. She catches a look of disappointment across his features, but it quickly vanishes.
“Not a problem. Think you’ll be home for dinner?”
“Not sure. I’ll let you know.”
“Okay,” he replies, then shoos her away. “I’ll finish cleaning up. You go get ready.”
“You sure?”
“Absolutely.”
“Thanks,” she says, then leans in, placing her hand on his arm and giving him a quick peck on the cheek.
As she walks away, she turns back to see him put his hand up to where she kissed him, and smiles softly.
A few hours later, Daisy has dragged Petra into nearly every store they’ve passed, but despite that, they only have three bags of merchandise between them. Daisy picked up a couple of swimsuits from one store and some new jeans from another, while Petra took advantage of a sale and stocked up on chocolate bars and truffles. Petra checks her phone, sees it’s approaching six o’clock, and sends a message to Lachlan, letting him know she won’t be home for dinner as Daisy shows no sign of stopping.
