As Daisy opens the door for the next store, letting Petra walk in first, she asks, “So how are things at House Grace-Rose?”
“Things are good.”
“That’s good. How are things between you two, though? You know, since the make-out session?”
“Things are good there as well,” Petra responds, turning away to try and hide her smile, but Daisy catches her.
“No, no, no. No trying to hide. What’s that smirk for? Did something finally happen between you two?” she asks excitedly.
“What do you mean, finally?” Petra questions while flipping through the shirts hanging on a rack.
“You two have been into each other for eons.”
“We have not!” Petra replies, feigning indignance.
“You have. Lachlan can’t take his eyes off you whenever you are around, which, frankly, can be a pain when trying to work at the Acorn, and he’s pouring booze all over the place, missing glasses and shit.”
“I’ve literally never seen him spill a drop.”
“Okay, fine, that’s a bit of an exaggeration.” Daisy laughs, picking a shirt off a rack and holding it against herself while looking in a mirror. She tilts her head and then puts it back. “But he completely moons over you.”
“We’re just friends,” Petra lies, mostly to herself.
“Bullshit.”
“It’s true. He’s helping me out, that’s all.”
“Uh-huh. So how was it?”
“How was what?”
“Don’t play dumb. The sex. How was it? I’ve seen how he moves, so I’m betting it’s pretty damn good.”
Petra can’t help but blush. It was amazing. The best she’s ever had, if she’s honest with herself. She thinks back to his reaction when she stroked his horns and immediately starts to feel tingly in her core. She looks back toward Daisy and finds her standing there with a large, knowing smirk on her stupid face.
“Fuck off,” Petra retorts, laughter in her voice.
“Iknewit! I want details. How many times? How long? Where? When? How big is he? He looks like he’s packing some heat!” She wags her eyebrows suggestively at Petra.
“You’re so… you.” Embarrassed, Petra glances away, looking at a table of sweaters and picking up a pink one.
“Spill!”
“Fine. Last night, the couch, his bed, the shower. This morning, his bed, the shower. Every day for the last couple of weeks it seems. I am not complaining about his size or abilities. It has been the best sex of my life. The man loves a meal, I’ll say that…” Petra winks back at Daisy.
“Yes, ma’am!” Daisy exclaims as she bounces with excitement. “Ugh, it’s been too long since I’ve been… taken out to eat.”
“What happened to the thing with Stella?” Petra asks, happy to shift the attention away from her and Lachlan’s escapades.
“That fizzled out a while ago. She wanted something more exclusive than I was willing to commit to.”
“Aww. I’m sorry. You should have said something,” Petra says, giving her friend a one-armed side hug.
“Meh, you’ve had a lot going on, so I didn’t want to trouble you with it,” Daisy confides.
Petra turns and faces Daisy. “I’m sorry. I know it’s been a lot with me lately. It feels like a giant hurricane surrounds me. But you can always come to me, regardless of what I have going on, you know that, right?”
“I do. Thanks. And sorry I didn’t say anything earlier.”
