Blade smiled. He loved that sound.
“You’re in for it now,” Blade managed to choke out.
Then it began. Gunfire erupted all around them.
The boys had arrived.
Blade let out a growl as he withdrew his blade and stabbed the beast once more. He had to give it to the beast-man; he could sure take a beating.
Another blow to Blade’s head.
This one caused him to drop his weapon.
Fuck!
He braced himself for another blow that was sure to come. This one would probably kill him. He wished that he had a chance to see Ace’s smiling face just one last time. Kiss his soft lips and tell him that he wanted to marry him.
Yes. With that thought in mind, he could die a happy man.
The beast above him sneered down at him like a hungry lion about to devour its prey.
The beast had won.
One more blow and Blade’s life would be over.
Staring into his killer’s eyes, he gritted his teeth and dared the man to try to end his life.
He wasn’t a coward. He was going to stare death in the face and smile at it.
Blood exploded from the man’s eye socket.
Blade blinked quickly as warm wetness splashed across his face.
The beast above him let out a growl just as another gunshot rang out, causing a spray of blood to shoot out of his throat.
The man fell forward. Lifeless. Crushing Blade beneath all of his dead weight.
“Fuck.” Blade grunted as he struggled to push the heavy man off him.
“Blade!” he heard someone shout from somewhere above.
More gunfire erupted, followed by a series of explosions.
Were they throwing grenades?
Once Blade finally managed to slip out from under the beast’s dead weight, he glanced up toward the voice.
He couldn’t stop the smile that attacked his face.
Ace was standing at the top of the pit, covered in blood and holding an assault rifle across his chest.
The man never looked sexier.
“Blade! Are you alright?” Ace shouted, crouching down at the edge of the pit and sticking out his hand.
Pushing to his feet, Blade grimaced at the pain shooting through his side. His head was fuzzy, and his body ached everywhere.
It was a small price to pay to still be alive.
