The drilling beat in my chest almost cracked a rib. This was Theo, his endless non-committal fun, but seeing it all unfold before my eyes was crushing. Jealousy drained my tongue of speech. Devastation crippled my ability to run away. A flaming anger destroyed my hope, cinder after cinder. As I shifted in the shadows, the soles of my tennis shoes squeaked on the tiled floor.

“What the hell, you perv!” I’d been loitering in the doorway for too long, and now the stranger’s dark brown eyes were on me.

“Theo,” I croaked.

“Ada?” he growled, rotating his shoulders to find me.

Our eyes locked— his dark and preoccupied; mine, wide and watery. He carried on thrusting his hips, driving into the curly-haired woman. His gaze fixated on me completely while he shunted, hard and relentless.

The woman’s mouth contorted. She seized his whiskered jawto return his hot gaze back to her. As he slammed in deeper, her perky breasts jiggled, but his concentration was laser focused on me, like I was the only one in the room.

It aroused me. It angered me. I panted. I hesitated.

“Look at me, Theo,” she pleaded.

His ribs lifted and fell in bursts, but his gaze never left, trapping me in his intensity. I stared right back, lost in tropical ocean eyes as he plowed into her, over and over. Her plight to have his focus ended when her gratifying cries competed with skin on skin contact. Theo was beyond masculine with flexed muscles and lose pitch-black hair, natural and messy. The fact my friend was getting off on our kinky trio set-up enthralled me.It was naughty and—wrong. He should be mine. Unequivocally.

After a few more thrusts and a savage snarl, his pelvis slowed and his shoulders relaxed, all the while fixated on my slight sway. I tilted a fraction closer, lonely without his warmth. His lashes lowered briefly, and I exhaled, releasing an apprehensive breath. My palm rested on the green pendant and the other held my stomach.

With a slight shake of his head, his brows pinched together. Theo inched backward and pulled out of the woman. “Ada, what the fuck are you doing here?” He snarled and zipped up his jeans. “What is it with you and forgetting to knock?”

The unfriendly outburst confused me. I didn’t know how I expected him to react after I witnessed him fuck someone, but I never thought he’d be so cruel. The awkward situation blazed over my skin and my wishful heart cracked, millimeter by millimeter.

“I was looking for you,” I replied sheepishly.

The woman fumbled with her top, rolling it back over her bouncy breasts. Theo sauntered around the desk and leafed through a couple of pages, pretending to studywhatever shit was recordedon them. He ignored my response, but I noticed the paper flutter between his fingers like adrenaline was racing through his veins.

“Can I tempt you to stay?” The woman rounded a stack of files and walked her fingers down his bicep. “If you enjoy that kind of thing, we can do it again. I don’t mind if she watches us. If that’s what you’re into?”

His eyes flared. “I’m not into her. That shit was fucked up. Anyway, I’m leaving this place in a week,” he gritted out.

“I’ll persuade you to stay. I bet I can find a way to extend your leaving date for a while longer.” She squeezed her breasts and shunted her hip into his thigh.

He looked up, eyes narrow and darkened to navy. They found me instantly. “I don’t need entertainment. There’s nothing here for me anymore,” he said calmly. “Ada, why are you still here?”

“For you,” I squeezed the green stone in my palm. “I don’t think leaving is the right thing to do.”

“You don’t need me, Ada. You can make it on your own.” He rolled his neck and rounded his broad shoulders. My heart splintered silently.

“Then I’ll go with you,” I suggested. “We can start a new life in a different town.”

The woman eventually turned to acknowledge my presence with a perplexed wrinkle on her brow. Theo dropped the pages and strode across the room, stopping toe to toe. He hesitated before me, swallowing hard. With that quick gulp, I swore he was imagining a kiss. “Ada, listen to me.” He dragged a palm over his face and ruffled his fingers through his lengths. “I want the right woman in every way, Ada, not just a friend.” His thoughtful expression morphed to a blank one, emotionless and unforgiving. “Run back to your cheating boyfriend,” he hissed.

“He’s not my boyfriend,” I snapped without thought.

“We all fucking know that, princess. Ro belongs to Fia, but you still slobber over the asshole every minute of the day. It’s boring and predictable,” he snarled.

I cleared my throat as our spectator sidled up behind him and rested her hand on his wrist. Her hair was similar to mine and her eyes were dark like chocolate drops. “Theo? You promised me round two on your motorcycle. Can we go now?” she asked.

“Excuse me, but we need a little privacy here.” I cocked my head and glared at her.The Wasp was my fantasy with Theo.

Theo exhaled in a gust. “I’ve got a shitload of orders to get through, Ada. How about later?”

“Orders?” I glared at him. “On the Wasp?”

His palms shot to either side of his head and he fisted his hair. “Like I said, we’ll talk later.”

“Do you promise?” I asked hopefully.
