The guy had been dominant yet loving, firm but tender, all the while telling me I was his, always his. Once we made love, he held me in a thoughtful Theo bear hug.
His arm slid out from under me, and I moaned. “I’ll get you a glass of water, princess.” The gentle kiss on my brow rekindled the tingles I thought I’d used up in abundance last night.
I stretched out and seized his wrist, tugging him back to the sheets. His hefty body dented the mattress as he joined me. “Not yet, don’t leave me while we’re so cozy.”
“Are you sore?” The intimate suggestion conjured a whirlwind of excitement.
I lifted to my elbow and gazed at my best friend. Thick lashes framed those enchanting bright blue eyes of his, calming and serene as always. Even though he was sleepy and warm, the guy still made me squirm.
“Not sore. Over worked.” I chuckled and rested my chin on the heel of his hand when he stroked my jaw. “Tell me I don’t have beard rash.” The delicate skin had a slight heat to it when his thumb moved along the curve.
“Open your legs, and I’ll check.” His expression was deadpan.
“Theo.” I grinned and dove my nose to hispec, hiding my rosy blush.
A low buzz sounded. I had no idea where it was coming from. “That’s your phone, Ada. I put mine on charge in the sitting room.”
Reluctantly clambering off the bed, away from him, I noticed a mushed-up pea on the rich cotton sheet. “Oh, Theo, you didn't wash the sheets? There’s green gunk everywhere.”
His shoulders lifted and fell. “They smell of you, after the night you slept here. I guess I couldn’t let go, even though I was trying to leave.”
“Trying?”
The right corner of his mouth lifted subtly. “Do you see any packed boxes?”
My gaze tracked the room. “So, youweren’t going toleave me?”
“I definitely planned to go, but leaving you behind was harder than I thought it would be.”
The buzzing stopped as I put my hands on Skully, which lay in a crumpled heap by the bedframe. I pulled his favorite tee over my head and I smirked. “And why might that be, Theo?”
“Ada, take off the fucking tee,” he barked in a thick commanding rasp. “I’ve waited long enough to have you all naked and sexy as fuck in my house. Get it off, or I’ll trail it off myself.”
“You’re avoiding my question, Theo.” I stuck out my tongue with a taunt and tugged the cord to open the blinds.
“Did you enjoy watching me fuck the woman in the bar?” A slow indecent smirk lifted the hairs surrounding his mouth. “I think that’s why I stayed, because you’re kinky, princess.”
A heated flush catapulted over every inch of my form. “You’re a pig, Theo.” I chuckled.
His legs shifted and swung off the mattress. He sat tall. “Come here.” With slow steps, I walked into his open arms. He pinched the hem of Skully and hauled it over my head. “That’s better.” And there it was, the sexy wink that never failed to make my heart soar. “Let’s talk about us, Ada.”
“Right now?” I let out an apprehensive sigh, subconsciously tilting into him for comfort.
“You aren’t just the right girl for me, you’re the perfect one, the only one. Okay? I’m not going anywhere. I know absolutely everything about you, right down to how many pancakes you can eat from a stack, to how amazing your insides feel when theyare clampedaround my dick. We’re connected to each other on another level now.”
I couldn’t help the quick grin stretching my cheeks wide. It swiftly vanished when a niggle of guilt crept into my gut. He knew everything about me, except he didn’t know my predicament. I absorbed the contentment in his embrace, staring over his shoulder to the horizon beyond the rippling ocean. The priceless view. “You called this place home, do you own it?”
His answer was short and sweet. “Nope.”
I looked back down at him, sitting on the edge of the bed, naked and built like every woman’s fantasy. “Do you rent it from someone?”
Theo released his arms and propelled himself back on the bed, rolling to his side. He propped his head uphisknuckles. “Sort of.”
“Why are you being shady?”
“I’m not.” He so was.
The phone buzzed again. I scanned the polished floor and spotted it under the damp pea-green dress mess near the door. When I checked the caller identity, I knew my bubble was about to burst. “I have to get this. It’s my mother.”
