Waking the next morning, I take a long hot shower, washing away all the crying and my feelings for Tank. Ha, if only it were that easy to wash him away. Getting to the warehouse, I’m late and grumpy.

“Hey, Boss,” Willow chirps as I walk through the door.

Nodding, I keep my sunglasses in place and take a sip of my strong black coffee.

“Okay, no movement last night, but that biker from the other day showed up again, and there has been plenty of movement this morning. They seem to be gearing up for something,” Willow informs me.

“Okay, thanks,” I reply sharply as I get comfy in the chair.

“Call if you need me,” she calls out as she leaves.

That’s one of the things I love about Willow, she knows when to back off and when to push me. Her sister, Blossom, is also a hacker, but on the darker web and works on her own. Checking the cameras, I see some movement. They do seem to be getting ready for something.

CHAPTERNINE

TANK

I fucked up.

Fucked up really good. How she knew Wire had run that search, I have no clue, but she did. I didn’t know he’d run it until I got to the clubhouse to see him. Pandora had known the second he ran her name. The run is today, and I seriously need my head in the game, but how hurt she looked is all I can see. I just have a bad feeling about this run. Mounting my bike with Wrench, I look over at him. I can see from his face, he feels it too.

“You feel it?” I ask

He nods, gesturing behind him as Dog mounts his bike and Joker joins us.

“Got a bad feeling, bro. Keep your wits about you,” he warns me.

“Yeah, Wrench and I got the same feeling,” I agree.

“Wire coming with us?” Joker asks, shocked as Wire mounts his bike.

“Yeah, BJ said he asked for the run, as he needs to clear his head,” I tell him.

“Okay, keep an eye on him,” Joker confirms.

The run goes smoothly and with no issue. We’re all now on the home stretch. However, the feeling in my gut is growing. A little further down the road, my helmet’s Bluetooth connects a group call with Joker and Wrench.

“Bro, I don’t have a good feeling. Keep your eyes peeled,” Joker warns.

“Same dude, feel as if shit is about to go sideways at any minute,” Wrench says.

“Feel the same. Need to warn Wire and Dog too,” I advise.

Joker ends the call to ring Wire, but a few minutes later, he adds us to the call and catches us up with what they discussed.

“Yeah, I did notice, been watching the fucker closely lately. Something ain’t right,” Wire says.

Before anyone can reply, a black van appears from nowhere, and gunfire starts around us. I watch as the van swerves, hitting Wire off the road. Pulling my bike to the side, all hell breaks loose as guns go off all around us. I take cover and start shooting back. I notice Joker get hit in the arm, but he nods that he’s okay. I look for Wrench and see that he’s lying on the road, the van now speeding off. I rush over to Wrench and notice he’s been hit in the stomach. I instantly apply pressure to stop the bleeding when Joker joins me.

“Stay with me, you fucker. You’re not dying on my watch,” I shout at him.

Joker is on the phone, calling Prez. He reaches over and checks Wrench’s pulse. He lets out a breath and nods.

Thank fuck, he’s still alive.

“Keep the pressure on, he’s got a pulse, and Prez is sending help,” Joker instructs me.

“We can’t lose him,” the fear in my voice is clear. Wrench is as close to me as Joker is.
