“I’m fine,” I reassure her.

She must understand as she notices the look on my face and nods. With the help of Carrie and Kate, they help Wire down and carry him out. This leaves Lukas and me in the room alone.

“What do you want?” I ask him.

“I have always admired your handy work. You have this ability to get in and out without being seen. This is an amazing talent for such a beautiful woman,” Lukas replies as he walks around me, taking me in.

“What is stopping me from just killing you now?” Too intrigued, not to ask.

“I have an insurance policy. If anything happens to me, the whole world will know who you are.” There is an evil glint in his eye. “Plus, I have a man on your precious biker. If I don’t call him off, he and all his club will be wiped out.”

A smirk appears on his face. He seems to know I would do anything to protect Tank and Havoc MC.

“You really think you’re that clever?”

I can’t help but push his buttons. I hate his cocky, self-centered, arrogant fucking smirk. It will bring me some satisfaction to take him down a few notches, if not altogether. His death at my hands would still be too good for him.

“Oh, Pandora, I really am that good,” he chuckles. “Now, you will remain with me, and I will give you your orders,” he tells me as he tries to leave the room.

“Oh no, this is not how it’s going to work.” I turn to tell him, but suddenly I feel a pinch in my neck, and the world goes black.

TANK

I am still kneeling outside Wrench’s room as the doctors and nurses fight to save him when I feel a hand on my shoulder.

“He’ll pull through. He’s got fight in him,” Prez says.

“I hope you’re right, Prez. It’s killing me seeing him like this and not knowing where Wire is,” I confess.

“Has no one told you?” he asks.

He takes my nonresponse as confirmation that I have no clue.

“The girls are back, and they brought Wire home,” he tells me.

I turn to look at him in disbelief.

“It’s why I’m here. Wire is being treated at the moment. He’s in bad shape, but alive and talking.”

I take a genuine breath of relief.

“The girls?” I ask.

“Not a scratch on them.” His voice held a little pride at that statement.

“Wire is asking for you, but be prepared, brother. Physically he’s a mess, but he’s not the Wire he was before. Not sure what them fuckers did to him, but he’s struggling mentally,” Prez warns.

I nod, but I don’t make a move to get up.

“Cass will stay with Wrench and let us know the minute there is any news, but have faith, brother.” Prez reads exactly why I don’t want to leave.

Finally, after getting the confirmation chin lift from Cass, I get up and follow Prez through the hospital. Reaching another ward, I find Carrie and Kate waiting outside a room. I grab each of them in an arm and hold them to me.

“Don’t ever fucking go off like that again. Know you both can handle it, but we’re a family, and we do this shit together,” I warn them as I hold them tighter.

Seconds later, Carrie is ripped from my arms and pulled into Joker’s.
