Entering the building again, I start checking the ground floor when I feel someone at my back. Spinning around, I pull my gun, only to find Kate standing behind me.
“Jesus, I could have killed you,” I warn her.
“Sorry, but not letting you go back alone.”
Nodding, we make our way room from room. Finally, behind a door, we find some stairs.
“Why is it always the basement? It’s creepy as fuck,” Kate mutters.
“Amen, sister,” I reply.
Slowly making our way down the stairs, we find Lukas with Wire and Dog. I can hear the gasp from Kate when she gets a look at Wire. The man is unrecognizable. If he makes it, he’s not going to be the same man he was. He is strung up, naked, and has been beaten badly. He’s covered head to toe in blood.
“Lukas,” I nod to him.
“Nightshade, you came,” he grins at me.
Turning to look at Dog, he has a confused look on his face.
“You know her?” he asks.
“Yes, Nightshade and I are old friends. We have worked together before,” Lukas says
The fucker is making it look like I’m part of this.
“Enough,” Kate says as she raises her gun.
At Kate’s voice, Wire slowly lifts his head. He smirks before giving me an evil look, just before he passes out.
“This is for Wire, Wrench, and Havoc, you traitor.” She pulls the trigger, and Dog falls to the floor with a hole right between his eyes.
“Nice shot,” I tell her as I’m impressed.
Kate nods and starts to move toward Wire, but Lukas stops her.
“I don’t think so, girly. Nightshade, you want your friends to live?” he asks with a smirk on his face.
“What are you after?” I demand, but I know the answer already.
“You agree to do a job for me, and I will let them go,” he says on a shrug.
“Don’t do it. He can’t be trusted,” Kate says.
“Oh, I know he can’t be trusted.”
“I haven’t got all day.”
He pushes as Willow and Carrie enter the room. The look on Carrie’s face when she sees Wire is heartbreaking.
“Fine,” I agree.
“Good, I’m glad you have finally come around to my way of thinking,” Lukas replies.
Willow looks furious, while Carrie just looks confused.
“Willow, help Wire down and get him to the hospital,” I tell her.
“Not leaving you,” is her reply.
