“A few of my guys just left to go check out your apartment,” Bull tells me. “Sienna went with them to get the things you asked for.”
“Thank you,” I reply.
“I hope this means you’ll stay.” His tone is soft and almost nervous. This big, bad biker lying next to me is nervous?
“I’ll stay for as long as you want me to,” I whisper, giving him a small smile.
“Be careful what you say, Goddess.” He grins a mischievous grin and a chill runs down my spine.
“Should I be scared?” I ask.
“Not at all,” he assures me. “Just know it’s very possible I’ll want you to stay forever.”
“What?” I squeal.
“Shit, I mean, only if it’s what you want too. I would never keep you here against your will,” he says quickly.
I absentmindedly run my fingers through his beard. “I believe you.”
His eyes flutter closed and he leans into my touch. Something inside me is telling me to completely trust this man. I’ve never felt anything like this before. With Bull, I’m not scared of what Kevin could possibly do. With Bull, I fully believe I’m safe.
A buzzing on the side table breaks my focus. My phone is ringing. I roll over and grab it, seeing Rusty’s name flash across the screen.
“Shit! I need to take this.” I jump out of bed and answer it as quick as I can. “Hey, Rusty!”
“Girl, where the hell are you? I came to the bar early, expectin’ you to be here already, but the place is empty!” Rusty says.
“Um, yeah, about that . . .” I start.
“Oh, no. What happened? Did he find you?” She asks, her voice full of fear.
I’d told Rusty the bare minimum that I was running from an abusive ex. She didn’t need any further explanation and has been one hell of an angel helping me out.
“Yes, but I’m okay,” I tell her. “Our, uh . . . Our friend from the other night is helping me.”
“You have the President of the Savage Menaces Motorcycle Club helping you?” She screeches out. “Girl, I told you he had a thing for you!”
“It’s not like that,” I insist.
“Yeah, whatever you say.” If I were talking to her face to face, now is when she would be rolling her eyes at me.
“I won’t be in for the rest of the week,” I tell her.
“That’s alright. All I want is for you to stay safe,” she says. “Keep me updated, okay?”
“Of course I will,” I promise. Hanging up with her, I turn back to the bed. Bull is watching me with a smirk.
“What’s not like what?” he asks.
“Nothing. Rusty was just being silly,” I tell him.
“Mmhmm, right.” He chuckles.
“Can we go get something to eat from the kitchen? My breakfast got a bit cold and I’m still pretty hungry.” As if on cue, my stomach rumbles.
“Of course, Goddess.” He climbs out of bed, smiling at me. “Let’s go.”
I glance at my phone to check the time. It’s already after eleven. We walk out to the main room. There are fewer people in here than there were before. Tink and Minx are talking to a couple of guys who are wearing vests like Bull’s. They look younger than him, maybe in their twenties or so. One of them looks like he belongs on the front of a magazine.
