“Uh, the best kind? Typically, you don’t just get into bed with women who can’t consent to—”
He smiled. “Yes, I am the best. Thank you, Bun-Bun. Sometimes a male just needs to hear that from a woman.”
I inhaled deeply, feeling frustrated as hell. He had the worst case of selective hearing I’d ever encountered. Glancing down, I was relieved to see that I was still dressed. I knew from my research over the last several months that they didn’t condone rape—in fact, they were heavily against it and had made examples of rapists. Publicly. Which was something I would almost say I appreciated, but really, that was the way everyone should be when it came to sexual assault.I wasn’t quite ready to bow down and kiss anyone’s toes for doing the right fuckin’ thing.
All of that flew out the window when Talon flung his covers back and revealed his completely naked body. I choked on whatever words I’d been about to speak.
“Don’t worry, I always sleep in the nude. We all do,” he informed me with a wink, swinging his legs off the bed and hopping up. His ass flexed as he stretched his arms above his head.
“Why shouldn’t I worry about that?”
“Ah, well, I just meant it’s not like a ‘you’ specific thing. I would’ve been naked regardless of whether you were here. See?”
“Uh-huh,” I mumbled. I did see. Saw his creamy skin dotted with reddish-brown freckles, and the muscles beneath that rippling with every movement he made.
Enough!I slammed my eyelids shut to block out the view. It didn’t help. All it did was bring back to life the very real events that had happened last night in that sex maze.
A phone started ringing, and I cracked my eye to steal a peek. Talon swiped a phone from the table and answered it.
Okay, I needed to think while he was distracted.Think, think, think.Last night, I’d been convinced I needed to get out of here, but in the light of day, that wasn’t really looking like my smartest option… Though I also didn’t want to seem like I was trying too hard to stick around.
As of right now, theywere the clingy ones, not me.
“No, I haven’t seen him since last night.”
I perked up. Who hadn’t he seen?
“Shit, man. You know how he gets sometimes. I’d go, but I have a meeting downtown.”
A meeting, hmm?
“Yeah, I’ll tell Mish. Okay, yeah. See ya in a bit.”
“Is everything okay?” I called out as I rolled to the edge of the bed.
Talon grumbled. “Yeah. Felix is missing.”
“Missing?” I questioned, surprised.
Tal turned to face me, his dick hard as a post and pointing right at me. “It’s nothing to get concerned about. Trust me, Bun-Bun. I know my brother.”
The sound of a door opening had me spinning on my heel, just in time to see Ashland blow into the room like a bat out of hell. He came to an abrupt halt when he saw Talon’s state of undress and me standing there in Misha’s T-shirt.
“Nobody thought to invite me to the party?” He crossed his arms over his white button-down shirt that was half tucked into a pair of burnt orange dress slacks. I squinted, looking closer. Velvet. They were fucking velvet, burnt orange dress slacks.
“There was no party, Ash. Just some snoozing, and maybe I did a little scenting…”
I whipped around to Talon. “A little what?”
“Come with me, love. I’ll get you something to wear and we can head out,” Ash told me, holding his hand out for me to take.
“Um, I was planning to go ahead and get out of your hair. Just need to find my shoes and bag—”
Ashland stepped closer and took my hand. “Don’t be silly. You’re with me today. We’re going to find Felix.”
Excellent.I’d be able to stay close to Ashland and hopefully dig around some more. I made sure to keep my emotions off my face—obviously, I didn’t want them knowing that was how I felt. “But why?”
Talon and Ashland exchanged a look, and then started laughing. Ashland took a breath, shaking his head. “Come on now. You sawuslast night. You didn’t really think we were going to just let that go, did you?”
