“Get dressed. It’s important. You can rest after. Please?” I give him my best pleading eyes and he sighs and relents, standing to put his clothes on.
I don’t know that I’ll ever get over the view of him naked either. The idea that it’s going to be all mine. Signed, sealed, delivered. Officially stamped and recognized? My heart starts racing in my chest again just thinking about how fucking lucky I am.
I start putting my clothes on too, combing my fingers through my hair and trying to make it less of a mess, but he’d done a number on it. I smooth out my clothes and then turn to him. He’s dressed but still looking at me like he’s not quite sure. I take his hand in mine and open the door.
“Princess, you still got your ring on. You wanna leave it up here?”
“No. Come on.” I tug on his hand and take him downstairs with me.
The party is in full swing now, people literally everywhere, and definitely the biggest crowd we’ve ever had. When people see him, they start shouting his name and telling him congratulations on being drafted. A few people trying to stop him while I keep tugging him along to the dining room. I grab a chair from the dining table and stand on it.
“Everybody I need your attention!!” I yell. “Listen up. Please!”
I clap my hands loudly and a few people start to quiet down but there’s still a dull roar. Easton grabs the chair next to me, standing on it.
“Everyone shut the fuck up!” He yells in a booming tone that takes the entire room down to a dull whisper. Then he gestures to me, looking a little puzzled and unsure but still more than happy to follow my lead.
“I just have a quick little announcement and then you all can go back to the party. I promise this won’t take long.” I look for Liv and Kenz because I want to make sure they hear it from me, even if I am doing it in an unorthodox way. I spot them on the far side of the living room with Waylon and Liam, both looking at me like I might have lost my mind. I’m about to double that feeling. “I just want to say my boyfriend here, your favorite tight end, just asked me to marry him and I said yes. Because he is the best fucking thing that has ever happened to me, and I love him. So you know, drink an extra beer or something to celebrate.” A laugh bubbles out of me as I see a few shocked faces and several impressed ones.
I look over at him and he’s smiling, the most arrogant self-satisfied grin I have ever seen him have, but with the tiniest hint of something else at the corner of his eye. He mouths the words “I love you,” as he looks at me.
“Holy fucking shit! Hell fucking yes!” Waylon holds his glass up high and a moment later the whole fucking party erupts into cheers and clapping.
Easton steps down off his chair and pulls me off mine into his arms and I wrap my legs around him, kissing him for a long minute before he sets me down on my feet again.
“I fucking love you, Princess.”
“I love you too.” I grin at him, threading my fingers into his as people start to come up to us to congratulate us and ask questions.
Liv and Kenz thread their way through the crowd and come screaming up to me, wrapping their arms around me and hugging me tight.
“Oh my god. Congratulations!” Liv smiles.
“I am so happy for you!” Kenz grins.
“Yeah, well given the look on Waylon’s face right now, I think he just got an idea he likes.” I laugh as I hug her.
“Oh god. Don’t start. I can’t think about that. Right now I just gotta be in awe of your ability to take that man and turn him all the way fucking around.” Kenz looks up at him over my shoulder as he talks to Liam, Ben, and Waylon.
“He’s really, reallygood to me. I know he hides it well, but he is such a good person on the inside. He even bought the bar and gave it to me as a gift.” I feel like I might cry from how happy I am. How lucky he makes me feel.
“He what?” Kenz looks at me wide eyed.
“I knew he had it in him.” Liv grins. “That’s amazing.”
“There are so many things to figure out now. I’m a little overwhelmed.” I give them a look and take a deep breath.
“But you’re happy?” Liv asks me thoughtfully.
“Happier than I’ve ever been, honestly. I think I might kinda get your point about finding the right guy now.” I smile at her and the two of them hug me tight again.
Easton looks back over his shoulder at me and shakes his head at the three of us, grinning and winking at me. The warmth that blooms in my chest at having him at my side makes me feel like I could face anything—do anything, and the knowledge that it’s a feeling I’m going to have for the rest of our lives makes me feel like I’ve finally found a new home. One with him. Surrounded by our friends.
EPILOGUE
Easton
“Fucking finally.”I lean back against the door as we get to our hotel room after the wedding reception. I could give a fuck less about everything that happened between her saying she was mine and getting her back in this room alone with me. But for her sake, I played along with all of the pomp and circumstance required for the day.
