I shrug again, not regretting my choices of where and when I undressed her while I head to my closet.
Grabbing one of my Cape Sodus fundraiser shirts along with a fresh pair of gym shorts, I head back toward her. She shifts on her feet, glancing at the door and now clutching the towel to her.
I extend the shirt to her.
“Why don’t you put this on and I’ll go make us some lunch.”
She takes it from me, nodding slowly but making no move to put it on. I release my towel, letting it fall to the floor and stepping up to her.
Her head tilts back so she can hold my gaze.
“What’s wrong?” I ask.
She chews her bottom lip, thinking over her answer. I wrap an arm around her waist, tugging her to me and using my thumb to free her plump lip from her teeth. She sighs heavily, leaning into me while answering.
“I don’t want to do something wrong, like stay when you actually want me to leave. Or what if I over thinkthis,” She gestures between the two of us. “And say the wrong thing.”
Her gaze drops from mine, as her finger traces softly along the edges of my compass tattoo, with each pass of her finger my heart rate increases until it’s pounding against my ribs. Something I know she can likely feel.
Tucking a finger under her chin, I gently tilt her head back.
“When I said that I would give you whatever you asked for, that wasn’t just limited to making your body feel good. If you want snacks and snuggles, give me five minutes and I’ll be back with everything we would need for the rest of the day. If you want to be alone, I’ll give you space.”
I lean forward, fighting back a smile when she doesn’t pull away.
“I haven’t hidden the fact that I am madly attracted to you, and not just because you’re one of the most beautiful women I have ever seen.” I brush her wet hair off her shoulder and bend down to press a gentle kiss in its place. Her head falls to the side, and her breath hitches. “With everything you and I have shared with each other, the only thing either of us could do wrong is not openly communicate what we want or need. Okay?”
She nods her head and whispers softly, “Okay.”
I run a finger along the top of her towel, lingering at the spot that she’s tucked it into place.
“Now, if you want, I had planned to go grab food and spend the rest of the afternoon with you tucked into my side and watching whatever movie or show you want.” I run my thumb along her cheek and, with my other hand, tug at her towel until it falls to the ground between us. Licking my lips, I stare down at her naked body in front of me.
“Don’t look at me like that.” She laughs, gently pushing me away and turning to pull my shirt over her head.
“Like what?”
“Like you’re thinking about taking me to bed again.” She faces me, that beautiful blush spreading across her cheeks. I run a hand through my hair, licking my lips at the sight of her in my shirt. I don’t miss the way her thighs clench together, only I also notice the faint wince that flashes across her face.
I’m in front of her in a heartbeat, studying her every move.
“Did I hurt you?”
She immediately shakes her head, but must see the protest on my face. Sighing, she loops her arms around my neck and gently kisses me.
“I’m a little sore, but in a good way. It’s nothing some Ibuprofen and taking it easy for the rest of the day won’t fix.”
Kat barely finishes her sentence before I’m gathering her in my arms once more.
“What are you doing?” She squeals.
“Making sure you rest.” I say, moving toward the bed.
“I can walk on my own, Jackson.”
Setting her on the bed, I cage her in with a hand on either side of her.
“Yes, youcanwalk on your own. However, I can also carry you or get whatever you need.”
