She hung in his arms, beautifully sated, as she feigned a frown and considered her options.
He did not wait, but set her to her feet. “I’ll show you.”
He tugged her along back into his bedroom and opened a door in the far wall. “Here. Your rooms.”
Her face fell at the sight of the bedroom. As large as his, this belonged to the mistress of the house.
It was done in creams and pale golds, and the touch of pale peach to the appointments gave the bland room life.
“Mine,” she said with no enthusiasm.
“Yours,” he told her, and then, understanding her displeasure, strolled in front of her. “Look at me.”
Her gorgeous green eyes held no life.
“This is where your clothes will hang in the far dressing room. And there,” he said, and pointed to another area, “is your bathing room. And that”—he pointed again—“is your sitting room.” He held her delicious body close. “But it is only for those purposes. Never will you sleep here. Never will you wish to, I dare to hope, andIhope to dare to keep you with me.”
The tension in her body seeped away, and she melted against him. “Oh, Kane.”
“You want me still,” he murmured. “How could I be so fortunate? I’ve never had anyone wish for my company so fervently.” He lifted her chin. “How could I bear to part with you even this far? I cannot.”
She pulled away and would have tugged him back to his bedroom.
“One more thing before we make love again.”
“What?” She was all business, eager only for one thing…and he smiled.
“I had one item brought up so that you wouldn’t get bored with me.”
She let out a snort. “Let’s see it.”
He took her into her sitting room. Except now there was little room to actually sit.
“The piano?”
He nodded.
“From your music room?”
He smiled.
“Kane, darling, why is that here?”
“I thought my desire for you might take many days or weeks or more to quiet.”
“So you plan on leaving me after a few weeks?”
“Never.”
“That is good to know. But the piano?”
“Is for you and me.”
A smile broke over her face. One fine black brow arched. “For us to…play?”
“Together.”
“Do we need a piano to do that?”
