When he finished he leaned against the wall and held her cradled in his arms. “That was so good, baby,” he whispered, nuzzling the top of her head.
Her long brown hair lay plastered to her skull as a smile played across her lips. “It’s always good with you.”
He smiled and kissed her. “I think dinner and TV cuddles tonight.”
Her smile warmed his heart and shone light into the darkest corners. “You read my mind, Sir.”
Chapter Eight
Shayla quietly let herself into the house when she returned home, unsure if Tony was awake or not. He’d gotten called into work late last night for an emergency in the data center and hadn’t yet been home when she’d left for breakfast. But his SUV was now parked in the driveway.
As quietly as she could, she stripped in the entry and put on her cuffs and collar. There was a whole list of housework she’d wanted to get done today, but none of it could happen until he was awake. She didn’t want to disturb his sleep.
That was the blessing and the curse of his job. He was paid damn good, but it sometimes meant sucky hours.
At least he didn’t have to go out to Colorado.
He’d had to spend a couple of months out there earlier in the year, including missing their wedding anniversary.
Although, to be fair, he’d tried to make their wedding anniversary by flying home that weekend as a surprise, and she’d borked the plan by flying out to Colorado as a surprise—
Which turned out to be more of a surprise than either of them had planned for it to be.
As quietly as she could, she walked down to their bedroom, where the door stood open. Tony lay in bed, on his side and facing away from the door, with their two cats curled up on the end of the bed.
Aww.
She hurried back down the hall to get her phone so she could snap a picture of them together. She loved candid little moments like this.
Except she forgot her phone wasn’t in silent mode, and she mentally swore when it made the photo-shutter noise when she snapped the picture.
He sighed. “I’m not asleep yet, pet. You don’t have to sneak around.”
“Sorry, Sir.”
“No apologies needed. Go take the plug out and come join me.” She set her phone to silent, hit the bathroom real fast, and joined him in bed minutes later.
He rolled over to face her and spoon his body against hers. “It’s all right, pet. I only got home a few minutes before you did.”
“Then why didn’t you say anything?”
“I was going to, but the sneaking was adorable. I thought about getting up and sneaking out to scare you.”
She tipped her head back and caught the smile in his green eyes. “Saaaadist.”
“Duuuuuh.” He kissed her and closed his eyes. “Want to snuggle with me?”
“I was going to do housework today.”
“Leave it. We’re going to the club tonight to play. I’ll help you do it later when I’m awake, or help you finish it tomorrow.”
“Well, when you put it likethat, Sir, who am I to refuse an order from my Master?”
He chuckled. “Such a smart pet you are.”
“How bad was it?” she asked.
He sighed. “Run a data center, they said. It’ll pay well, they said. I’m starting to wonder if I shouldn’t maybe think about looking around or talking to a headhunter.”
