Chapter Seven

“Oh, motherfucker,” Tony grumbled the next morning as they stared at the CRV.

The donut was flat.

Shayla snickered, feeling sorry for her husband but also damned glad he was home and now in charge so he could deal with it. “Well, how do you want to handle this, Sir.”

He sighed. “I promised you breakfast this morning.” He pulled out his cellphone and scrolled through his contacts. “I know I’m going to regret this.” He punched the button and she watched as he waited for the call to connect.

It sounded like a man, and whoever it was had a smart-assed greeting for him.

“Ha, ha,ha,” Tony said. “Like I’d want to put a butt-plug inyourass, dude. Listen, I need help…”

Whoever it was, Tony had to pause for a moment for them to stop laughing after relaying the short version of the tale to them.

“Ross, if I wanted my balls busted, I’d call Tilly or Abbey.”

Ah, question answered.

“No is fine,” Tony said, “but comeon, please, I have a ton of stuff to do today, and I owe Shayla breakfast—thankyou. I appreciate it, and yes, I owe you.” Tony ended the call.

“Well?”

He smiled. “They’re going to bring us Loren’s car to use this morning. We’ll go have breakfast, get the regular tire fixed or buy a new one, go buy a car, drop her car off, and then I’ll come home and change the tire.”

“That sounds like a busy morning.”

He pulled her into his arms. “Since I have a pet to fuck and spank again somewhere in there, it is.” He kissed her, then lightly swatted her on the ass. “Run inside, please, and get me a pair of work gloves from the garage. They’re on their way. They’ll be here in about ten minutes.”

“Yes, Sir.”

Twenty minutes later, they were on their way, in Loren’s car, Tony driving and the echoes of their friends’ laughter still ringing in their ears.

“I bet Lynn uses this in a book somewhere,” Shayla said.

“Gee, pet, ya think?” But he grinned and reached for her hand, squeezing it and holding on. “I swear we’ll laugh about this someday.”

“But today isnotthat day,” she joked.

“No, I’m pretty sure I’m already laughing about this.” At the next light he brought her hand to his lips and kissed it, smiling at her. “Did I tell you today how much I love you?”

Sweet pleasure rolled through her. He’d shaved this morning and looked less exhausted than he had last night. “I love you, too, Sir.”

“Well? What do you think, pet?” Tony asked Shayla after they’d both test-driven it.

The Honda Pilot, in Obsidian Blue, was a different shade of blue than his CRV, and was less than a year old, with only ten thousand miles on it. But it came with a like-new warranty and with a deep discount.

“It’s pretty. But you’ll normally be driving it, Sir.”

He sighed. “Why won’t you let me buy you a new car?”

“Technically they’re both our cars,” she said. “We’re buyingusa new car.” She hooked an arm through his and looked up at him with those sweet hazel eyes of hers. “I like driving your car, Sir.”

“Let’s do this,” he said to his friend. Tony draped his arm around Shayla for the walk inside to the office to start the paperwork.

Two hours later, they were done, and the dealership had handled the registration transfer for them so they could use the tag from Shayla’s car.
