With it propped up on pillows, she tucked herself against his side to watch TV. “Let me know when you want dinner, Sir.”
“Not right now.” He kissed the top of her head again, his breath warm against her scalp as he lingered. “Do you know how much I love you, baby?”
She nuzzled him. “Love you, too.”
“I mean it. I—”
“Shh.” She lifted her head and kissed him. “Don’t worry about the dark stuff. We both avoid a lot of ‘what-ifs’ on a daily basis without even knowing it. We’re both safe, and other than you nearly breaking your foot, and needing a new suitcase—and new car—and life goes on.”
He stared into her eyes for a long moment. “I never want to leave anything unsaid with you, baby. I want you to always know I love you.”
She held up her left hand. “This ring tells me you love me. My day collar tells me you love me. Even if I didn’t have those, I know you love me, Tony.”
He sighed, silent for a moment as he seemed to study her face. “Okay, baby. Give me a kiss.”
She smiled and leaned in again, lingering as she kissed him, tracing his lips with her tongue, savoring the brush of his goatee against her chin. “My sexy Sir.”
He snorted. “I don’t feel very sexy right now.”
“I think my dream vacation would be me taking care of you while I’m naked and collared and being your perfect little slave girl.”
“Youaremy perfect little slave girl, baby.”
She nuzzled noses with him. “Guess it’s a good thing our crazy matches and my brain was so easy to rewire, huh?”
He finally grinned. “Lucky forme.” He tucked her hair behind her ear. “Maybe I used up all my good luck marrying you and it’s finally catching up with me.”
“Then I guess we’ll just have to make more good luck together. We’ll have the rest of our lives together to do it, Sir.”
His finger caught the D-ring on the front of her collar. Lightly tugging, he held her in place to kiss her once more, this time in control of it. When he finally released her, he smiled again. “Do we even have any food in the house?”
“I can rustle something up, or I can call in Chinese, or a pizza.”
“Pizza, please,” he said. “I’m hungry.”
“I’ll go do it.” As she carefully climbed out of bed and headed to the living room to open her laptop and place the order, she realized she wasn’t even disappointed they weren’t “going” anywhere.
As long as she was with Tony, that’s the only place she wanted to be. The where didn’t matter.
Not a damn bit.
