“You and Linc?”

“We have a lot of history and things we need to work through,” I say.

“I’m sure you will work it out,” she pats my hand as the guys plop beers down in front of us.

“Thanks, babe,” Mallory kisses Mason’s cheek. I smile, they’re cute. And I wouldn’t mind having Mallory around. Lots of people have started building homes in the area thanks to Memphis.

And then it feels awkward. I’m awkward.

“Let’s dance,” Linc pulls me toward the dance floor. He pulls me close, holding me as we sway to the music.

“Ever told me about the ranch,” I admit.

“I know. She told me,” he grips me tighter.

“I’m really sorry.”

“I’ll be okay. But I need the money from this show so I can get my justice,” he says.

“Then we should win,” I grin at him.

“Even if we don’t, I’ll still have enough from just being on to get what I need, but I’d like to win with you as my partner.”

“Me too. I’m really sorry about what happened in the past, marrying Memphis and all,” I say.

“Me too. I didn’t mean what I said.”

“I know.”

“I was hurt.”

“I wanted to run away with you, but I was selfish,” I tell him honestly.

“We have the rest of our lives to make amends,” he kisses my forehead.

I hope that’s true.

Chapter Twenty-One

Lincoln

Istill want to ask her about the baby that Lily yelled at her about. Did Skye have a baby? What happened to it? Was it mine? I need answers, but today is not the day. I’m having a good time just holding her.

“Gosh, my feet are tired,” Mallory says as she approaches us.

“Let’s go sit down and Mason and I can grab some drinks,” I say and we head toward the bar.

“You guys working through your shit?” Mason asks as he signals for more beers.

“I think so. A few weeks ago, I couldn’t stand to be in the same room with her. I think at times she felt the same. When this is all over, we have a lot to talk about. Just need to get through this competition.”

“I feel you there. I’ve never been gone this long from my ranch or horses. Last girlfriend, though, I was married to my horses,” he snorts.

“Even I thought you were,” I laugh.

“Jerk,” he playfully pushes me as we walk back to the table and I freeze.

Lily is sitting in Skye’s place.
