“Okay,” she taps my shoulder before getting out.I watch her go and once inside I turn the truck towards the clubhouse. One to tell Bones that Noah is with Gator and Plum and the other is because of the text I got while we were having lunch.
Not many at the clubhouse when I pull in, but that’s because they’re catering to the visitors that have started showing up.
Bash is behind the bar dishing out drinks to Ziggy and Stetson.
“Is Bones here?” I ask them since I didn’t see his truck or bike.
“In your office,” they say almost in unison as they down another shot.
“Slow down, boys,” I call out as I head to my office. I don’t hear their response as I’m already halfway down the hall.
I stride into my office and take a seat at my desk, knocking Bones’ feet off of it as I pass.
“Hey!”
“Fuck off,” I grin.
“You’re in a good mood,” he observes.
“I am. Oh, by the way, Noah is at the inn with Gage,” I tell him, “he wants to stay over.”
“Yeah, he texted me at Plum’s request,” he nods, “I’d like to meet her since I didn’t get to at the food fest.”
“Maybe tonight after our date.”
He freezes in his seat and stares at me, his mouth hanging open.
“Did you just say date?”
“I did.”
“Holy shit, man, This is huge,” he snickers.
“It is. But that’s not why I texted you to meet me here.”
“I already know. Tex called me,” he settles back in his seat.
“Who is it?” I ask him.
“One of the men at the diner who works for Ziggy.Shot twice in the chest.Zip chased the man down but lost him,” he says.
“Call church. We need everyone to be aware.I want Zip to recount what he saw.”
“Do you think it was the Beasts?” he asks.
“I do, but I want to be sure before we do anything.You did have to take out two the other day.They’re trying to up their game.”
“I’ll mass text.”
“I want everyone here in an hour,” I tell him as I sit back in my chair and wonder how this will all play out.
CHAPTERSIX
Plum
Noah is a good kid. Gator had snacks waiting for the boys which was sweet and then they did their homework on the patio to try and get Gage caught up.
Now they’re playing video games in the huge front room. Gator has a huge TV in there.I don’t mind, it gives me time to get all the paperwork to send over to the lawyer.
