‘She thought I was a bear,’ Rory replied.
Tabi cackled. ‘I have to meet this woman.’
Rory shook his head. ‘Never going to happen.’
‘So, what happened?’ Tristan continued.
‘We had a frank exchange of views.’
‘She told you to fuck off?’
‘Maybe.’
‘So, what did you do?’
Rory blew out his cheeks. ‘I tried to get her to leave Scotland by herding hairy cows onto her land and letting a rat loose.’
‘OMG!’ shrieked Sabrina. ‘You didn’t!’
‘I was a dick,’ Rory continued. ‘She drove me crazy. But then I came to my senses and tried to make it right.’
‘And how did you know you were in love?’ Tristan persisted.
‘When she was filling my mind so much there was no room for anything else.’
Sabrina dropped her head to the side. ‘Awwwwwww. You thought she was a lunatic but then you fell in love.’
Rory shook his head. ‘I fell in love, and now Iknowshe’s a lunatic.’
‘So, Tristan,’ asked Jonathan. ‘Are you in love?’
The woman of his dreams drifted back into his mind. How could he be in love with someone he’d never met?
He shrugged. ‘I thought I was, but now I don’t know.’
‘So, is being in love the fourth stage of being drunk, or is it being sad,’ Sabrina asked.
‘The fourth is in love, and the fifth is maudlin,’ he replied. ‘I told you I was at the fifth stage.’
‘So, what’s six and seven?’
‘Fighty, then sick.’
‘Mate, word of advice,’ said Ben. ‘If you’re going to throw a punch, don’t try and take on Jonathan, Rory, or Tabi. It won’t end well for you.’
He nodded. ‘Good call.’
‘Tris,’ said Sabrina. ‘You can punch me. But who do you think you’re in love with?’
He sighed.
‘Her name is Sherilyn.’
