“You will die,” she proclaimed.
Her rage was building, and it was close to exploding. She threw a ball of flame at Leon, but he spun away out of the line of fire. The foliage at the base of the tree smoked.
“You witch,” he roared.
He charged at her, his shoulder thumping into her stomach. The breath escaped her at the impact. They fell to the earth with the older man landing on top of her.
Kamila cried out from the impact. She tried pushing him off her, but he was physically stronger than her.
“It will be you who will die,” Leon yelled. Spittle dripped from his mouth. His hand wrapped around her neck in a tight grip.
Kamila conjured her internal flames on her hands and touched his bare skin. The sizzling of flesh sounded. Leon rolled off her with a yelp. He crawled away from her, cursing her.
“Are you sure you are strong enough to kill me?” she murmured. Kamila flipped onto her side and glared at him.
One of the black wolves was on the ground, unmoving. Maxius was circling the other wolf who was bleeding but apparently not backing down from the alpha.
She pushed up and held her hands out. They were consumed with her bright flames again.
“Get away from me, you bitch,” Leon hollered. He swiped a shifted hand at her, his claws drawn out.
Kamila smirked, walking toward him.
“You’ve killed three witches. Tarren Noel, Danica Miles, and Priestess Hazel Winters,” she recited. She wanted him to hear the names of the lives he’d taken.
“Those names mean nothing to me,” he hissed.
“Well, they meant everything to me,” she fumed.
Now was the time for her to serve justice. Unlike the humans, there was no court of law or being judged by one’s peers.
He had taken three witches’ lives, and it was up to her to serve justice, to get revenge for the lives that weren’t his to take.
Maxius arrived at her side. His snout had traces of blood on it. He bared his large teeth at Leon.
Kamila straightened to her full height. Leon rolled over and tried to crawl away. She forced a ring of fire around him. Leon stood and spun in a circle, the flames growing higher.
“You aren’t just going to kill me in cold blood, are you?” Leon snapped. His skin held the marks from her heated touch.
“There’s nothing cold where you are going,” Kamila sneered.
Leon tried to jump over the fire, but Kamila raised the flames.
“Let me out of here. I’ll do whatever you want,” he shouted. He spun around in a circle, frantic.
“It’s too late for that,” she retorted.
He fell to his knees in a coughing fit. Kamila lifted her hands and pushed her powers to him. His scream rose high in the sky. Her flames licked his skin and crept along his arms.
Kamila wanted him to suffer.
“Make it stop,” Leon cried out, beating at his skin. His legs flailed as he tried to kick away the embers.
Kamila twisted her hands, sending the waves of the flames into his mouth. His body writhed on the ground.
Kamila jerked her hands, allowing her fire to consume him.
The flames of her fire would carry his soul straight to Hell.
