“You sly dog.” This from Del.

“Who the hell was it?” Aidan was glad to have the attention off him.

Noah rolled his eyes with a frown. “You can shut your mouths literally. And it’s none of your damn business. She’s not from here anyway.”

“You never talk about her,” Del said.

“It’s called discretion, Del. We don’t all have our lives splashed in the papers.”

He nodded. “Fair enough. Thankfully, neither do I anymore. Much anyway.” He sipped his Coke before focusing back on Aidan. “But let’s get back to this one here. What’s stopping you, Aid?”

Noah narrowed his eyes. “Yeah, it isn’t like you’ve ever slept with a girl and then needed a relationship. Hell, I’ve known you to sleep with a few tourists and send them on their way. You like that about them. So what’s—”

“You like this girl,” Del said.

Aidan looked down at the bottle in his hand and started peeling the label. “How can I like her like that? I hardly know her. She’s been here a week.”

“But what you do know, you like,” Landon added.

Aidan rubbed the back of his neck. Fuck. He did like her. And he was afraid if he had her once, it wouldn’t be enough. He’d be too attached. And he didn’t do attached.

“It’s just because we’re in such close quarters. And she’s hot as fuck. The fact that she’s sleeping in my bed doesn’t help either.”

Noah lifted a hand. “Hold up. She’s sleeping in your bed? How the hell have you not had sex with this girl yet?”

Aidan took the cue stick and reached over and stomped the end on top of Noah’s foot. “Ouch, you asshole,” Noah hissed out and lifted his foot up before Aidan could do it again.

“I’m sleeping in the loft. Have some respect. Honestly, I expected more from you, Noah.”

He held up his hands in a shrugging gesture. “I apologize, but I’m flabbergasted by this situation.”

So was Aidan if he were being honest. “Look, I’m just going through a dry spell right now. I’m bored with the local offerings. With the busy season coming up and the sheriff pretty much out of commission, I’ve had to step up and take over a lot of duties. Sex has actually been the furthest thing from my mind.”

“But now it’s the only thing, huh?” Landon nudged his shoulder.

Aidan downed the last of his beer and banged the cue stick on the floor. “Can we just finish the damn game? That’s what we came here for.”

“Yeah, you keep telling yourself that, cousin,” Landon muttered low enough only Aidan could hear.

As he stood, Aidan’s eyes found Megan’s from across the bar. When she smiled and tilted her head in acknowledgement, he returned the smile.

He was in so much fucking trouble.

A couple of hours later, the Silver Moon Cafe had emptied out except for the workers and Aidan. The guys left at different times through the night, leaving him to camp out on a stool at the end of the bar, where he stayed out of the way but could watch Megan in action.

When it came time for her to leave, she walked over to where he sat, her hand running across the now clean and gleaming bar top. “You waited for me?”

He shrugged a shoulder. “Figured I was here. Save Charley the trip of driving you home.”

Megan tilted her head. “It’s my duty as a bartender to ask how many beers you had tonight.”

He smiled at her. “One and a half. I didn’t finish my second one. Then I switched to water. I’m good.”

Somewhere during the evening, he’d decided if she was game, he would have her underneath him before the night was over. There was no way he was going to ruin it with alcohol.
