Once Sam disappears, I let out a heavy breath. “That was close.”
“Sam will kill us if we miss his damn wedding. And rightfully so,” Matthew says. The water runs, echoing as we all stare at each other awkwardly.
“So last night…” I begin.
Benny sighs. “We don’t have to talk about it.”
I let out a sigh, feeling like I need to be honest with them. “I slept with Sophie.”
“We all did,” Matthew says. “What’s the?—”
“No, I mean Isleptwith Sophie. As in, we had sex.”
Benny chuckles, shaking his head.
“What’s so funny?”
“I slept with her yesterday.” Benny shoots Matthew a smirk. “After you made her come, what, three times?”
“What the fuck, man, were you watching us?” Matthew says, his eyes wide as saucers.
Benny shrugs, getting out of bed. “Just saying, Eli…you aren’t the only one.”
My jaw tenses. I will not let him ruin this. I will not…
“Easy, he’s already got enough bruises to cover up, don’t let him piss you off.”
I look at Matthew with surprise. “Wait…you’re not…pissed?”
Mathew clears his throat. “I mean…does it bother me that I haven’t had sex with her yet? No. I’m not in a rush, since, you know, we just sort of fell into this. But you…” He gives me a soft grin. “You love her just as much as I do, and if she wants you, then who am I to get pissed? As long as you don’t cheat on her or do something?—”
“I would never,” I say, and I mean it with every ounce of my being.
“And neither would I,” Benny says.
“So are we…all agreeing that this thing we have with Sophie…you’re okay with us being…intimate?” I ask.
“As long as you’re okay with me being…um…intimate with her,” Matthew says nervously.
We both look at Benny.
“What?”
“Are you okay? With us…”
“Fucking my girlfriend?” he says. The word takes me by surprise.
Girlfriend.
As of days ago, she was someone’s fiancée, and then she was an ex, and then she was my friend, and now…
She’s my girlfriend.
