“Alright, red, I’ll let you get back to sleep. I’ll see you tomorrow when I get back,” I say softly.
“Promise me you’ll go easy on her,” she replies, and I shake my head and groan, “Rose,” but she continues, “No, promise me.”
Dirty looks away, trying to hold in his laughter, while everyone else, the fuckers, openly laugh.
“Okay,” I promise with a sigh, and she replies, “I love you, Cage,” and my heart fucking melts.
“Hold onto that, remember it while trying to trust me again, alright?” I plead and she whispers, “Okay.”
I smile and murmur, “I love you, red,” before hanging up, and I mutter, “I’ve got to call my dad.”
The brothers laugh, and I give them the finger and order, “Tank, get the prospects to change vans now that the glitter bunch are here,” and he laughs harder while the brothers all curse me out for being whipped just like them and they’re right, I’m so fucking whipped.
I bring up Dad's number as I walk over to some place quieter and put the phone to my ear.
“When are you going to give your wife her cut son?” he answers after a few rings, and I reply, “I thought you wanted me with Elsie?”
Dad snorts, “Nah, son, I can’t stand the woman. Now, Rose, she is a keeper. You need to get her a cut.”
“He’s got her one, Elsie tried to burn it when she went snooping the other day. It’s how she found out about her, but Mama stopped her,” I hear my sister admit, and my jaw ticks.
I swear to fuck, I’m going to kill the bitch.
“Like I said, I never liked the woman,” Dad grumbles, and I growl, “Where are you?”
“I’m heading to the Huntsmen MC. Doc called Steal, he said he’ll put your sister up for a while,” Dad admits, and fear hits me, the call with Axel coming back, and I begin, “Dad –” but he cuts me off and states, “your sister has agreed to help Steal and see if Hains is a traitor.”
“You sure that’s wise?” I ask carefully, “If the man finds out…”
“He won’t, your sister is smart enough not to say too much, and honestly, son, she needs this, she needs to feel like she’s needed,” Dad murmurs, and I hear a few sniffles.
“I guess being the VP’s daughter, then the current VP’s sister, was hard on her making friends,” I murmur with sadness, guilt flittering through me.
I should have seen the signs instead of believing she was up Elsie’s ass.
Come to think of it, she didn’t try to latch onto Ace until I started fucking Elsie.
Fuck.
“She’ll fit in there, son,” Dad confirms before Selena says loudly, “Don’t ruin things with your wife, she’s a sweet one.”
I smile slightly and ask, “I take it I have her approval?”
Dad replies, “You do and you have mine and your Mama’s, not that you ever needed it. You and I need to talk when I get back, son.”
“We do,” I agree, then state, “I’m currently doing a run, message me when you’ve got Selena settled and tell her,” I take a deep breath and I say, “Tell her I forgive her,” before I hang up and quickly type out a message.
Me:
I was kind and only because of you. I love you, my red
I press send, then put my phone away, knowing I won’t get a reply because she should be going back to sleep until at least six. I walk over to the brothers, needing to get this shit done so I can get home and continue groveling to my wife.
Chapter 22
Rose
“Okay, so his sister just stood there, holding a knife?” Donna gasps, her mouth hanging open, a fry mid-way, “Like an actual knife?!”
