Eli eyeballed Haruka. What were the odds that he could get his boyfriend out of his pants? Normally, it was a pretty easy thing to do, but Haruka might take exception to Eli stealing his pants and making him wear Kamakura’s. Eli had no problemwith Kamakura running around in his underwear. The man had more than enough weapons to protect himself.
Eli got them on the move, but The Protect Haruka’s Virtue Brigade made it five feet before being forced to halt.
“Eli! I didn’t think you two would be here so late.” Jace pounded to a stop in front of them, slightly winded like he’d been running for a while. “I was on my way to the library when I saw you three. Do you want to join me?”
“No,” Haruka said frostily, drawing Jace’s attention to him. His friend’s eyes drifted from Haruka’s chest to his stomach and seemed to get stuck there.
“Eyes up here, Jace,” Eli snapped. He waved a hand in his soon-to-be former friend’s face and pointed at his own. Then he moved from his position behind Haruka to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Kamakura so he could be an added visual barrier between Jace and the sexiest thing Eli had ever seen. “We’re a bit busy right now, so we can’t go to the library. Maybe tomorrow.”
“You don’t look busy.” Even though he was obviously making a valiant effort to keep his eyes on Eli, his gaze kept drifting over Eli’s shoulder and down a little.
When he began craning his neck, Eli snapped out, “Kamakura!” His bodyguard immediately whipped out his stun gun. “No, not that! Just make Jace turn around or step back or something. Jeeze.”
Kamakura hadn’t gotten past the Touching Incident a few months ago and was pretty much always ready to do bad things to Jace if Eli was willing to allow it. Eli should have thought of that before opening his mouth. Kamakura gave Eli a little frown but moved in front of Jace, taking up way more space than Eli could ever hope to and forcing him to take several steps back.
“We need to get going, Jace. It’s cold and Haruka needs to change.”
“I’m not cold,” Haruka said like the smug asshole he was. “I tend to run hot these days.” Ever since Haruka’s magical-girl destiny had kicked in and he’d gained control over his powers, he had an internal heat source that made him all but immune to the cold.
“It’s November, and everyone with half a brain has a jacket on,” Eli ground out through clenched teeth. “Let’s go find you one. At home.”
Haruka shrugged, and it made his crop top rise and show off even more real estate than it had before. Eli tugged it back down hastily. Maybe he could get Jace to let Haruka borrow his jacket? Eli eyeballed his friend and swiftly vetoed the idea. His clothes were only marginally bigger than Eli’s, and Jace would probably enjoy it too much.
Maybe Eli should have Kamakura call in another guard or three to get them home safely. When Haruka started laughing again, Eli realized he had his hands protectively covering Haruka’s abs again and was broadcasting his entire thought process to his boyfriend.
“You’re going to pay for this later.”
“I didn’t do anything. It’s not like I asked to have my clothes stolen.”
“You’re enjoying this far too much.”
“I’m enjoying this quite a bit myself, actually.” Jace’s grin split his face, and Eli was tempted to let Kamakura shock it off of him.
“Go to the library, Jace, or so help me, I’ll sic Kamakura on you.”
Jace’s hands went up into the air in surrender, and he backed away. “Just so you know, that’s not as big of a threat as you think it is, Eli. He’s pretty hot too.”
Jace made his escape as Kamakura made a distinct choking noise.
Eli put a hand on his forehead, rubbing furiously to try and erase the mental image Jace had just inspired in his mind. “Okay, first, don’t bang my friend, Kamakura. That would just be weird. Second, if we run into Kojima sensei, don’t ask questions, just stun her.”
“She is very small, Eli. I can neutralize her without this.” Kamakura waved the stun gun and made a littledon’t you have confidence in my abilities?face. It didn’t escape Eli’s notice that Kamakura had ignored the first order entirely.
“Do it anyway.” Maybe getting stunned would delete anything she might see from her brain. “Now let’s get out of here before the photography club shows up and I have to make Kamakura go on a murder spree.”
Haruka shrugged like he was fine with either option.
“That would be tiring, and blood would probably get on your clothes, Eli. I will make sure to steer us away from large groups with cameras,” Kamakura said.
Eli gave him the side-eye. Kamakura wasn’t as morally bankrupt as Haruka, but he had his own set of quirks that made him different enough from other people that Eli wasn’t sure if he was joking or not.
“Just to be clear, Kamakura, I’m only joking about the murdering people thing.” The stun gun, on the other hand…Eli would play it by ear.
“Of course, sir.” Kamakura’s face was as calm as usual, but Eli could have sworn there was a hint of a smile at one corner of his mouth.
They made it a lot further this time. They got all the way out of sight of the archery field before running into Isa and Briar.
“What the hell are you two doing all the way out here? Was there an announcement in the group chat? Alice told you, didn’t she? Oh god, please tell me Will isn’t here.” Because if he was, Eli really was going to let Kamakura stun him.
