“What?!”

“That’s not all, the reason for not listing the kinks is because they want to offer the more extreme Red kinks and if I accept them across the five days, I could walk away with One Million Dollars!!” I say the last like an excited game host.

“What the fucking hell?” James gasps with a mix of excitement and wariness crossing his eyes.

“I know, I was in a daze all afternoon. I didn’t know how to process it.”

“Idon’t know how to process it. And you’re telling me now?”

“I know, I’m sorry. I had to walk it off and get my head around it. It’s a ‘secret’ job so I can’t speak to Sophie about it and I wanted to get my own feelings straight before I spoke to you about it.”

“Why?”

“Because I thought you’d talk me out of it.”

“Why do you think I’d talk you out of it?” he eyes me with scrutiny. I try not to shrink under his gaze, I’ve aroused his suspicion and I need to hold it together if I want to come out of this conversation in the way I hope.

“Because it’s unknown. I don’t know what I’m walking into.”

“Yeah, well that is kinda a big deal. But haven’t most of your jobs been like that?”

“Exactly, that’s exactly how I feel about this job. I haven’t known what to expect on a single job or from any club member I’m meeting. Even the Charity Job was the first of its kind to be locked away for seven days and I loved that.”

“Something tells me you got away lightly with that one to some extent. Those men were very good to you, right? What about if this is a secret job because the men are the complete opposite.”

“But what if they’re not? And it’s just the same as all the others?”

“Rosie, what if they are bastards—or worse, warpedbastards? I know you have been totally fine on the jobs you’ve accepted and whilst I had my reservations about the charity job, we did at least know what you were walking into, despite not knowing the extent. The secrecy surrounding this one, itseems off. Why not just post the job and invite you to apply? Why keep it a secret?”

“I know, I have been thinking about what the reason can be. But maybe it is truly just a game they want to play, and this is part of the fantasy, the element of surprise.”

“You have the option to say no though right, you can use your safe word?”

“Yes, absolutely. Sandy said they’re offering me $500,000 to stay for five days and if I agree to all of the Red kinks they offer I could walk away with a million bucks. Think what that could do for us? Set us up for life.”

“I don’t know what to say Rosie, that is an awful lot of money for a bunch of rich fuckers. Why choose you out of all the playmates?”

“Sandy thinks it’s because of the Charity Job, I guess the members talk on the greens. It went well, they gave praise and here is my offer of a lifetime.”

“You said that last time.”

“And that was an offer of a lifetime. I’m flabbergasted I’ve been offered another so soon—I genuinely didn’t think I’d ever top $200,000k, that’s why I did it.”

“Has anyone else ever done a job where they didn’t know what they were walking into?”

“No, Sandy said this is the first.”

“And she’s ok with it?”

“Yeah, she’s fine with it.”

And there it is. My little white lie. The one that will appease James and allow me to talk him into allowing me to take this job. The one that will bite me in the bum should it be the job from hell. The one that will follow me for the rest of my life should this job mentally and physically destroy me. If James knew I wasn’t being completely honest with him, he would never be able to trust me ever again.

“Still, I have my reservations. Do you want to take this job?”

“This question has gone around and around in my head since the minute I was offered it. James, how can I say no?”

“Absolutely you can say no, it’s your choice, it’s your body.”
