“Are we talking about sex again, Chief. Are you planning to fuck a demon?”
“Absolutely not. As you have learned, I know little about Aeternals. I’m adding to my knowledge.”
“Enough questions. Come on, it’s time to get out.” He grabbed her up in his arms, both of them dripping gray goop. Setting her on a flat red rock which jutted out from the pond, he ordered, “Lie on you back first.”
“What are you going to do?”
“Not what you want me to do.”
“Stop that. I’m through letting you push my buttons for your entertainment.”
“Caught. Rest here in the sun. While the mud dries, it will pull out the infection. You already look better. After I cauterize a few of the more serious wounds, they’ll heal immediately.”
“I am tired. A short nap sounds good.”
Kole pointed to a clearwater pond nearby. “I’ll be over there getting this shit off.”
Skyler watched Kole’s spectacular ass until she could no longer see him, her lids drifting closed. When she awoke, he was standing over her. Still naked. Still erect. She vaulted upright. “Pervert.”
“You wish.” He scooped her into his arms and settled her with a slight toss.
“My clothes.”
“Aren’t we beyond this foolishness? I refuse to have sex with you no matter how much you beg.” Kole gave her his boyishly handsome smile. “Besides, you’re all muddy. I like clean females.”
“I don’t see you as very particular.”
“Now who’s rude?”
She tightened her arms around his neck. Kole stepped into the clear, cool pond, brushing hands over her skin to wash off the mud.
No. I think not.
When Skyler shot him a warning squint, he backed off, leaving her to cleanse herself.
“I may not always be particular, but I’ll have you know I’m considered quite a catch.” Kole rested his elbows on the rocks behind him, his broad chest proudly on display.
“Has anyone ever told you you’re conceited?”
“It’s not conceit if it’s true.”
Skyler laughed, ducking under the water, washing the healing mud from her face and hair.

Margogulped when the front door creaked open. She hoped it was Galena. Chay had walked out minutes before, saying he was sending the Amazon.
Boots clunked across the room, stopping where she crouched on the floor. “Let’s go, human. This is a real screw-up.” A smirking Galena extended a hand to Margo, pulling her to her feet. “I leave you alone with the ylven stud for an hour, and the two of you get nabbed by a couple of lame-o renegade Aeternals.”
The six-foot-tall, fit Amazon was clad in low-slung jeans, a crop top, and an unbuttoned jacket. Standard wear for her. In addition to the knives in a belt holster, she clutched a short spear.
Margo shook off the hand, rising on her own. “To be fair, it wasn’t his fault. They broke into my apartment. Unexpectedly. And they were big. Really strong. He killed one and stopped a warlock before a sloth demon whammied him. You need to give Chay more credit. Besides, he figured out how we could escape.”
Galena held up a hand in surrender. “Okay. He’s a big hero. What were the two of you doing at your place so Chay didn’t hear four males tiptoeing to the door? Playing suck face. No. Don’t tell me. I don’t want to know.”
“I don’t intend to tell you. Where are we going?” asked Margo.
“Outta here.”
