I walked into his arms, and he dropped a kiss on my lips. He touched my stomach, and sure enough, MJ started playing soccer. The only thing he could do was laugh. Our baby didn’t play about Melijah.

“I swear I’d never get tired of this feeling. Every time I feel his little kicks, it gives me joy,” Melijah admitted.

I nodded. “Yeah, me too.”

When the baby arrived, Melijah and I decided we should stay here at my place. He would move in with me. Even though I would rather stay at his place, it wasn’t big enough for the three of us, and of course, my home was. He was already making sure some of his things were over here. I told him we could find something else soon, since I didn’t even like my house. I would hit up my realtor, Leighton Stewart. My girl was a beast at finding a good home.

“How are you feeling?”

“I’m good. Just hungry.” I snickered. “Other than that, I’m okay.”

He tilted his head. “How are you feeling about your parents coming to meet me?”

I sighed deeply. “Terrified. I know how my parents are. They are going to question you down. They do that to me all the time.”

Melijah continued to rub my back. “I’m cool with that. It’ll be us getting to know each other. Baby, I know it’s killing you not to have support from your parents or friends. It’s all in your face. I don’t give a damn how they feel about me. I just want you straight for yourself and our son. If you want to talk to them, go ahead. None of that shit bothers me. To me, I’m living good as hell. I’m about to open my second car wash with my girlfriend and baby by my side. I can’t ask for anything else. I’m blessed.”

I smiled and leaned into him. “You are blessed, and you’re a good man.”

He gave me a small smile before he went to the stove and turned it off. We took a seat at the kitchen table. “I love you, Eli. That’s something that snuck up on me. To know you is to love the hell out of you. Since I met you, you’ve been honest with me. No matter how your friends feel about me, you’re holding it down. I love you more because even when I have days where I want to throw in the towel due to all the stress this second car wash has been giving me, you stick by my side and make sure I’m good. You matter a lot to me.”

I smiled through the tears that brimmed in my eyes.

“Oh, Lijah. I love you too. The feeling of love came when we had our first appointment. Although you asked about yourself, you were also concerned about me. Then you were so attentive and have been since you found out I was pregnant. I don’t have to lift a finger to do anything, because you’re always around to make sure that if I need anything, you’ve got it. You’re caring, loving, and make me feel secure and protected. I’ve never had that in my life. I’m so happy to have that with you.”

The tears I saw in his eyes almost made me sob, but I held it together. We both held it together. We stared at each other, letting our love for each other shine in our eyes. Melijah stood up and helped me up. He lowered his head and kissed my lips. I deepened it, slipping my tongue into his mouth. He latched on to it, causing a moan to slip from my mouth. If I could lean more into him, I would, but my stomach stopped all of that. He still found ways to touch and hold on to me. I enjoyed that so much. My nipples grew hard as my panties got wet, but it was best we stopped before we ruined dinner plans with my parents. I’d cancel it and just spend the day with my man in bed. That seemed more fun anyway. Melijah pulled away from me.

“Yeah. We’ve got to stop before things get too out of control.”

I chuckled and licked my lips, still tasting him. Damn it. I wanted more.

“Yeah...”

Later that evening, my parents and sisters came with their noses in the air. My heart felt like it wanted to leap out of my chest, but I managed to hold it together. It wouldn’t be bad. It would only be bad if I kept thinking the worst, which was something I tried to avoid doing.

We all stood facing each other. I put a smile on my face, even when I felt like crying. This was about to be a disaster. I could feel it.

“Parents and sisters, I’d like you to meet my boyfriend and the father of my baby, Melijah. And baby, I’d like you to meet my parents, Joy and Elliot, and my sisters, Erin and Erika.”

Neither of them made a move to greet each other. Yeah, this wasn’t good.

Melijah nodded. “Nice to meet y’all,” was all he said and walked away.

Damn it. That wasn’t a good thing, but at least he kept his cool. The tension in the air was so thick it could be cut with a sharp knife.

We all sat down to eat dinner, and Melijah blessed the food just as I knew he would.

“This food looks really nice...” my mother commented. “Who catered it?”

Melijah and I exchanged looks. Here it goes...

“We didn’t get dinner catered. Melijah cooked it himself,” I proudly stated.

I saw how they all exchanged looks, and I had to hold my breath. There was no telling what would come out of their mouths.

“Oh, boy. Let’s see how it tastes,” Erika mumbled.

I shot her a glare. “You don’t have to eat it.”
