“Sure it can. Want to know why?”
Anke nodded.
“Because the members of CIRO are simple humans. They see complicated every time they’re on the job or get pulled into some catastrophe or another even though they’re on hiatus. They don’t want drama in their lives or beds. With them, I find it easy to say what you mean, and mean what you say. It’s especially important, to take what you want.”
Anke trembled. Pitbull had proven that last part the night before. The inside of her thighs were still tender from him riding her like a champion stallion. “Take—um—take what I want?”
“Yeah.” Miracle glanced over to Mouth before leaning in and facing her again. “Especially if what you want is Pitbull’s body. If he’s anything like Beast, he doesn’t like a weakling in his bed.”
Don’t I know it.
“No wilting flower.” Miracle continued. “You have to leave all of that outside the bedroom—hell, leave it outside the front door. Sure, we’re not going to be perfect. We all have days when we think our butts can be seen from space. But men like Beast and Pitbull will simply turn you to face the wall and spank the thought right out of your head.”
“Oh! My.”
Miracle smirked. “TMI?”
“No. This is good to know. Maybe I should be taking notes.”
Miracle laughed. “Nah.” She crinkled her nose. “Anything you need just call me. And um—you look like my size—if you wanna borrow a few…you know, pieces of sexy clothing. I got you covered.”
Anke laughed then. It was good they’d sent Miracle over. She figured it was so she wouldn’t be freaked out. She made a mental note to thank them later.
“Well,” Mouth said, stepping through the door and closing it behind him. “Pit and Zero just brought a few guys to the headquarters. I have a feeling it’s going to be a long night.”
“Should we head down there?” Anke said, already rising.
“Trust me, Anke.” Mouth flopped into the sofa beside Miracle. “You don’t want to be there for this.”
“What? Why not?”
“Another thing you will have to learn about this family.” Miracle sighed. “Sometimes, just take their word for it.”
Anke wasn’t sure she was okay with that. Something big could be happening and she wouldn’t have a clue. Then again, they’d done their jobs before she even came into the picture and didn’t require her in-put. Still, she couldn’t help feeling a certain way about it all.

Getting the information hadn’t been easy but Beast and Mouth managed to get two of their arrests to talk. Claudia still hadn’t said anything. When Tex did a search for Abigail Lesner, the result wasn’t what Pitbull had been hoping for. The girl’s sister had reported her missing. Claudia knew where she was and wasn’t talking so the charges against Claudia would now be upgraded.
Growling, Pitbull slammed his fist into the nearest wall. Though he didn’t break a bone, he knew he should be feeling something but all he felt was numb.
“Cool it,” Mouth advised. “You can’t lose it right now.”
“Don’t tell me how to feel. Do you know what’s it going to be like arresting my sister for kidnapping?”
“You don’t have to,” Beast said. “Barbie—please inform Ms. Hunt of her new charges then come back here. She might need to get a lawyer. As for you…” Beast turned and jabbed a finger against Pitbull’s chest. “Take a walk.”
“Beast, I—”
“Go. That’s an order, Pitbull!”
Pitbull frowned but shoved by Zero and Mouth. He stepped out into the early morning air thinking there were so many other things he could have been doing in that moment. He could be hanging off the side of the CN Tower—not a care in the world. Or, he could be burning alive between Anke’s legs, letting his heart race out of control. In other words, he could be in heaven but now he was sleep deprived, sitting outside with his hands throbbing like the devil.
Whatever crimes he’d committed in a previous life was coming back to haunt him and Pitbull just wanted to scream.
“Hey.”
He glanced up then straight forward once more.
