AVA
He holds me close as the music serenades us both in glittering magic. His body pressed against mine is something so exquisitely intimate that causes a fire to burn within my soul.
The candlelight in the room illuminates every feature across his face. I hadn’t looked at him, not really, but as his body presses against mine I finally see him. His deep gaze as he looks at me like I’m the only person in the world. The way his eyes dance when he catches me looking back. The way his large hand fits perfectly at the curve of my waist as he slowly moves against my body with the music.
Dancing in his arms, I feel a sense of calm that I’ve not felt before. Something overcomes me and the warmth of his body pressed against mine makes me feel something I haven’t felt—I look into his eyes and my body trembles. “What’s wrong, baby?” I open my mouth to speak, but no words come out. A lump forms in my throat and I can feel it tighten as my lip trembles. “We can stop. This is supposed to be nice. We can stop, Ava.”
I shake my head and try to let the feeling wash across my body. “It is nice. I don’t want to stop.” He looks at me like he doesn’t believe me, but I can’t blame him because I don’t even believe the words that come out of my mouth. “I don’t want to stop,” I repeat, trying to reassure him.
My hand snakes up his neck, and I pull him closer, leaning my head on his shoulders. I can feel his heart race against mine. Our hearts rest together as we slowly away with the sweet serenade of the music and I just away the music to take me away and I do something I never thought I would do.
I close my eyes and I exhale.
I knew that getting close to Chase was risky, but for tonight, I would allow myself to get carried away with the notion that this was real. That tonight, just for one night, everything I felt in this moment was real. Tonight I could pretend this grand gesture was real and the moment we were having right now was real.
I’m not sure how long we stay like this, lost in our bubble, just swaying to the music. Feeling our bodies entwined around each other in a seductive dance that seems to entwine around my soul, he twirls me around the room and a giggle falls from my throat. Even something as simple as a dance fills my heart with joy.
Twirling around until sparks fly into my brain, causing the most exhilarating dizzy feeling in my head. He bends and dips me close to the ground and, for a second; I shake with fear that I may fall. “Don’t you know yet?” My brows knit together as I try to figure out what I’m supposed to know. “I would never let you fall.” A gasp falls from my lips. “And if you ever fell, baby, I would be right there to catch you.” I just look back at him. “You don’t believe me?” He smirks as he runs his nose against the length of my neck. “You’ll never fall, Ava, the only time I would allow you to fall.” He trails light kisses along my jaw. “Is when you fall for me.” He smiles.
As corny as his speech was, it was the most romantic thing I had ever heard. Although I think I needed to give him an Oscar for the cheesiest pickup lines known to man. “That line was cheesier than your feet.” I hear a bubble of laughter erupt from behind us and remember that while it felt like it was just the two of us, we weren’t actually here alone.
“Cheesier than my feet,” He cock a brow. “Oh, you’ll pay for that.”
“Oh, please don’t tell me you’re going to torture me with your feet.”
“No,” he smirks while laying my body flat on the ground and crawling across me. “Something far worse than cheesy feet.” He grins.
“What could be worse than cheesy feet?” I barely get to finish my sentence before I feel his fingers dig into my ribs and within moments my body convulses in fits of giggles as he runs his fingers across my body.
I had never been tickled before in my life. I know it was strange to go through your entire life to never feel the joy of someone forcing laughter from your body because they want to see you smile.
The breath is pulled from my body and tears stream down my face, but the laughter never disperses. “Please—please, I’m sorry.” I gasped out with laughter in my voice.
“Who has cheesy feet?” He mocks.
“You do,” I smirk.
“I told you before, Ava, your mouth would get you in trouble.” His fingers dig back into my skin, forcing the laughter to fall from my body once more.
“Please. I give in.” I gasp out as the tears of laughter crawl down my face. He pauses and looks at me as if to assess if there are any other retorts that want to fall from my lips.
I suppose I could continue with my sarcastic remarks, but I’m not sure my stomach would forgive me. An aching pain from all the laughter had travelled to my stomach, causing my body to tense. “I swear, I give in.” Smiling, the sweetest smile I can muster.
His hand comes towards me and I’m about to grace myself for another tickle match I knew I was going to lose. I shake my head. “Please, Chase, I can’t—.” He holds his hand out once more and clasp my hand in his, allowing him to pull me from the ground.
“I think you’ve had enough excitement for one night.” He whispers in my ear while moving my body towards the stairs.
“Where are you taking me?”
He moves away from my body. “Well, a gentleman always makes sure the lady gets home safely.”
“Chase—.”
“I’m walking you to your door, Ava.”
“Like a date?” I gasped with astonishment.
“Exactly like a date.” He smiles.
